“This is my offer: Nothing. Not even the fee for the registration which I would appreciate if you paid for yourself.”

"If you have a buyer lined up this weekend, I do not want to stand in the way of that. However, if the deal falls through for any reason, here is what I want you to do. Pick up the phone first thing Monday and give me your BAFO on the vehicle. If acceptable, I will come in and purchase the vehicle. If not, I have two other options and will go there instead. No harm, no foul. Have a great weekend!"
Do Not give them a price
Do Not share competitive intel
Do Not mention trade
Do Not mention your approved rate
If they call you back with a compelling offer, use the trade and the rate to smooth out the final bumps

I’ll give you $20k only because I’ll never spend more than that on a vehicle. Take it or leave it.

I'm not paying that much for one. Period.

I offer and then walk away. You’re playing black Jack with someone who always knows the hole card. You are at an extremew disadvantage. I will walk 9/10 times. They all have their hand in your pocket and everyone is interested in car. Good, they got lots of car lots.

I feign the effort to suppress laughter in front of the salesman, then let him continue the sales pitch.
You’re not wrong but I’ve actually bought a vehicle out from another interested couple because they couldn’t pull the trigger. I had no clue what negotiations were but we ended up with the truck. Was a bit awkward but shite or get off the pot.
If someone is the only person there ready to buy or outside interest, ya I’d laugh.

Irrelevant. Dealerships will always sell to the guy in the store at that moment. They never count on future sales.

Ask the salesperson for a kiss. When they look at you confused, tell them you like to be kissed when you're being frickED.

Just keep driving your mom's old Camry.

I only shop for cars when I don’t need or want them and always shop at at least 3 dealers and never pay more than 500 over invoice ever. I am obviously not dealing with this crazy bullshite

Most modernish vehicles can push 200,000 miles with some maintenance.
I can confirm. I have a 2012 Honda Odyssey with 230,000 miles. Engine is a beast. If I can make it to 300,000, I may see if I can make it to 1,000,000 and see if Honda will buy it back for a new one.

You know that’s straight up bullshite don’t you?
If you look at a car.. someone is always about to buy it. Always. Every car on every lot is practically sold. Same for houses. Every house for sale is almost sold to other people.

Don’t be a dumbass BUYING local thats the biggest mistake you people make.

Selling you a brand new car, $60,000 MSRP sticker, your number one choice in exact detail. There is 1 on the lot. Dealership tells you someone is interested in buying this vehicle this weekend.
Same brand/model/car but 65% of exact details in dealerships within 100 miles. Similar price.
Your number two choice, different brand/model/car, is available in other dealerships within 100 miles, but is $66,000 MSRP sticker, 10% higher price and missing significant feature that you want.
The car you own is in decent shape but won't be reliable in next 2 years
Your credit is very good
Low interest rate financing for 60 months is available
You have as much cash as you are willing to spend for this particular car
First I will never again buy a car that has to be today. If you are not willing to walk then you have zero leverage. These car companies make lots of cars besides the one on the lot.
Credit? I am not borrowing money for a $60k car. Make a cash offer. If the dealer wants to agree to a cash sale price and throw in 0% financing on that sum of money then that could help on cash flow if you so desire.
Always trade if you have one but dont put it on the table until you have a cash price. Trading will reduce your sales tax better than selling it outright.
