Your Christmas Tree. When Do You Put It Up? When's Too Early?

Yes, I know this is a topic thats probably too early to talk about. However, I guess that's the point for this post. I bring it up because on my daily neighborhood walk yesterday, someone had already put there's up. That's pretty cravy. I usually procrastinate until the last minute myself. This is like paramount to ordering pineapple pizza, or the way too early Christmas music they start playing October.Just like, why? What say you?

We put it up right after Halloween.
Gives us two months to enjoy it.

Friend,
You cannot control what other families and stores do. You can, however, educate and instruct them on good taste and decorum. Our season of Advent is not one that we enter with levity and frivolity. Advent is the season of preparation and waiting for the coming of our Lord. Please inform anyone who decorates before the first Sunday of Advent that they have trespassed against both Ordinary Time and Advent.
Both these seasons are a gift from our Lord, and intended to guide us in the seasons of our lives, to edify and prepare us. We remember the coming of our Lord at Bethlehem in the form of a baby and we prepare for the second coming of our Lord who will wipe away every tear and bring those in the fold to be with the triune God.
Advent begins on the Sunday four weeks before Christmas Day. This year it will begin on December 1. Unless your neighbor follows the Hispanic Rite, you should first gently inform him that any Christmas decorations displayed need to be removed before December 1 this year. If he resists, a public complaint should be made against him.
May we all approach Advent we sincerity. This year, as is the Christian custom, we will prepare with a four week fast. Acts of almsgiving and service shall replace our cookies and hot chocolate. We shall hold vigil on December 24 and only at sunrise on tvr 25th shall we celebrate. And what celebrations we shall hold between December 25 and Kings’ Day on January 6!

Some people are starting to put them up already. Pretty soon, we’ll lap the holiday and it’ll get back to normal.

Funny you ask. I was in Lowes Friday night and saw they'd already started putting Christmas trees out. It's September people!
Who makes that decision to put Christmas trees out on Sept. 20th? I want to kick his arse.

I never understood the day or weekend after Thanksgiving.
Ours is up the Saturday before Thanksgiving every year.

I never put the fake one away. It’s still going strong from last year. It’s a talking point.

So you celebrate Thanksgiving with a Christmas tree already standing there? Do you put up Easter decorations before New Years?

I put a small tabletop tree up. It’s small and mobile.

Saturday after Thanksgiving is when we cut ours down.

Usually the week or two after Thanksgiving.
However, on Nov 1, Halloween/Fall lights get changed to color Christmas lights inside of our house, as well as start listening Christmas music (not the same music that’s on the radio…. I have my own eclectic custom playlist).

Friend,
When is Front Day this year?
Posted on 9/22/24 at 7:19 am to meeple
Friend,
Front Day is not on the radar yet. I suspect fourth week of October, but that is pure speculation. Take a look back at previous Front Days:
1911: October 18 (77/53)
1912: October 24 (79/50)
1913: October 13 (79/56)
1914: October 15 (69/53)
1915: October 8 (74/56)
1916: September 30 (73/52)
1917: October 9 (77/51)
1918: September 21 (73/51)
1919: November 3 (78/54)
1920: September 30 (79/49)
1921: October 4 (79/59)
1922: October 9 (70/54)
1923: October 20 (68/50
1924: September 30 (71/53)
1925: October 20 (73/48)
1926: October 2 (79/58)
1927: September 23 (78/55)
1928: October 19 (78/58)
1929 October 21 (76/57)
1998: October 10 (75/56)
1999: October 23 (72/57)
2000: October 7 (71/56)
2001: October 20 (79/56)
2002: November 2 (66/53)
2003: November 15 (80/50)
Mother projected a high of 78 this day, but the mercury rose to 80. It was the only time in 25 years she has failed accurately to predict Front Day. We still had a brilliant Front Day, even with the warmer than normal temperature. It was a very good thing we celebrated on this day because the next day that met Front Day parameters was December 27.
2004: November 6 (71/47)
2005: October 29 (71/49)
2006: October 28 (69/54)
2007: October 27 (70/55)
2008: October 25 (77/52)
2009: October 17 (67/54)
2010: October 30 (76/50)
2011: October 22 (75/53)
2012: October 27 (64/53)
2013: October 26 (74/51) The week before met the temperature definitions, but it also was a rainy day.
2014: October 4 (73/57)
2015: November 14 (67/57)
2016: October 22 (75/57)
2017: November 11 (72/54)
2018: October 27 (75/55)
2019: October 26 (79/57)
2020: October 31 (70/52)
2021: October 30 (68/53)
2022: October 22 (79/56)
2023: November 4
The earliest Front Day in the last decade was October 22. Mother has not even mentioned it yet.
Yours,

Day after Thanksgiving.
Anything earlier is trashy and people who do it should be met at Sonic.

I need people to understand that Lowe’s putting out Christmas trees for people to buy is not the equivalent of Lowe’s festively getting ready for Santa. People buy trees this time of year to put out later.
