Let’s say your car is stolen and gets in a wreck. Who’s insurance is on the hook? Also, as the owner are subject to a lawsuit?

ETA: this is in Louisiana.

The car is insured, not the driver.

Owner’s insurance is not on the hook.

I reject the premise. Anyone stealing your car isn't carrying insurance.

Here is a fun fact because this happened to me. Comprehensive pays it. Not liability. You’re not the driver of the vehicle.

Okay, but does the impacted cars have to have uninsured coverage?

You insure drivers not vehicles. The thief is on the hook.

You better hope some white collar professional boosts cars on the side because if not, you’re shite out of luck.

Then they don't pay for your car that was stolen and wrecked so you have to collect from the person that stole your car

If it was in a wreck with others the others have to collect from the person that caused the accident

I'm about 95% sure this incorrect.

Your liability coverage protects you in a rental, for example.
