For me it’s Fricken Chicken.
100 times this.
Used to live across the street from it. Was so sad when they closed it in 07. It was my go-to pre-drinking meal.

Candy the Chimp? The former owner of Fun Fair Park brought her with him to Blue Bayou where she lived until she died last year. I heard she was mean as hell.

i am surprised there aint no ole blues fans o this board no one mentioned Tabby's place the old one by the buss station down town. Finest ole delta blues to be found. Celebs came to visit songw were written about the place. later it moved to the river front when they tried to make catfish town a thing but Tabby retired and the place closed.

I bumped in to Tabby's son at the Stone Pony a couple of years ago. Saw him play at Tabby's around 1990 or so.
Bought him a couple of drinks and talked about the club. I happened to have my LSU sweatshirt on which helped start the conversation

My recollection is it was gone around 84 being replaced by the 39 cent Hamburger Stand. If there’s one still there I don’t know where it’s at!!

It had all the things you want in a bar: a decent size, good bar tenders, good drink specials, pool tables, a dance floor, a decent patio area, and my favorite, a fooseball table.
Not to mention the craziest parking lot brawls every weekend. And it was right across the street from the police station...and it seemed like the cops hardly ever bothered to show up.
