This forum is obsessed with the word "trashy". I think I have figured out why....

Without a doubt, those who travel here from Louisiana are louder and drunker than the rest.

I should certainly hope so. I hope no one would expect them to be in Alabama sober. I wouldn't wish that on anybody.

I'm not close to OT rich, have a bunch of little kids, and want to go to the beach in October. Where should I go?

Go to Orange Beach but buy a "30A" sticker. Win win.

The best decision I've made in my life was leaving Baton Rouge 7 years ago to move to Gulf Shores. I have a great job and own a business now. I love when my Louisiana people come down here to visit. We always have a few bad apples in every crowd. From directly dealing with tourist, as a whole Texas and Arkansas are the worst people to deal with. Just my opinion. I live on the beach and have to deal with lots of tourist Memorial Day to Labor Day. They rest of the year Gulf Shores and Ft Morgan are an absolute paradise. I'm the first to tell the old, entitled, "locals" to suck it and deal with it. You will have your Beach back in September.

It's amazing, but I work with a tour group out of New Orleans and I find the Alabama guests the most ignorant by far. Don't get me wrong they're nice people but they're like the Beverly Hillbillies in the big city for the first time. You alway can tell they're from Alabama.
I guess yours are coming over here while ours are heading over there.

It doesn't take much but N.O. brings out the crazy in our hayseeds. (Alabama)

People from Louisiana think it's cool or cute or endearing to be trashy. Trashiest state hands down, and it's like they actively work to be more trashy. It's like a competition with them to be more trashy than their neighbors, like some sort of an inbred badge of honor.

Strange bunch of people

Yes?

Here's a hint. This didn't come from Birmingham, it crawled out of a swamp:

Folks from LA are definitely the most secure people in the south. They own who they are. MS has the most uppity of the southern people, AL people just hide behind the Tide because they mostly ashamed of everything else...GA and FL are like TX...not 'southern' at all.

I've traveled to Bama often and have been absolutely floored how trashy some of the people are. Birmingham is an absolute dump with a few nice suburbs. Nothing but a boring Nola

You have clearly never been outside of a major metro in GA or a few miles from the beach in the northern half of Florida. Easily as redneck as the rest of the southern states

I will never understand the animosity among southeastern states. You go somewhere like Omaha or Chicago or even Boston and you wear an LSU shirt, and you can't escape people telling you how much they love your state or your team. I've read so many articles from places like Omaha where they speak so highly of LSU fans and a lot of them root for us when we are playing there. Yet States like Mississippi and Alabama seem to just hate us. Not that we have super high things to say about those states either. It is weird to me that it's a competition at all.

Because we live amongst one another. It's kind of like sibling rivalries. There are a lot of transplants in those handful of states. I work with like 6 people from Bama that I know of and probably 10 from Mississippi (none from Omaha).
