There have been a number of articles about how Texas (no income tax, business friendly) is luring big financial firms away from New York.
Lots of them are behind paywalls, but this one isn’t:

The comments are interesting. East Coast folks yammer on about how hot and regressive Texas is.
They cannot seem to see the logic if people are leaving New York for what they say is such an awful place, New York must really suck.
It has been like watching a jilted spouse talk about an ex.

Texas has always been a business friendly state. No state income tax however the property taxes absolutely suck. Texas is always willing to bend the knee for those who are willing to invest in Texas. It used to be big business, and to a degree still is. However where the real new big money iis from Mosques. They are springing up everywhere like weeds. Frisco is becoming the TX version of New Deli and Murphy is becoming the next Dearborn Michigan.

Sometimes I wonder if the texas posters here are so cranky because the Muslim mosques call to prayer wakes them up in the middle of night every night

Definitely the areas with "more desirable demographics" are higher, with that said shitty arse Harris county has very high tax rates. At least in Montgomery County you get something for the high rates.
