That nearly made me cry. I’ve never seen that before. Such a sad time living through Katrina. My grandma nearly died in her house. If my dad hadn’t used someone’s else’s police badge to drive back into the city, she wouldn’t have made it.

I also remember TWC showed this guy walking along the beach in Gulfport all alone just seeming to be in shock just wandering in amazement at what he was looking at.. very haunting image…

This interview & watching Robin Roberts report live from Pass Christian are the 2 that stick with me the most.

I remember going to bay st louis 2 or 3 weeks after Katrina. A great aunt passed and I went with my mom and grandpa.. The funeral was in a small church that was mostly a black people church. No AC because there was still no power, but it was one of those situations where you had to see it to believe it.

I remember seeing this video that day. I think WAFB showed it several times and we had a generator on watching TV. I am not someone who gets upset over things easy. Some might say I lack empathy at times, but this video really upset me.

In no way could anyone imagine what he experienced unless they experienced the same thing. That man looked defeated and had no where to go. His wife didn't want him to get caught up trying to save her because of the kids so she did what she thought she had to do. Let go. That is hard to even comprehend.

Wasn't her body found several years ago? I think I read that he had passed away at some point as well. He literally lost almost everything just like that. And life is unpredictable. You never know what will happen than might put you in a similar situation.

The CBS News article that was linked earlier in the thread says that he passed away from lung cancer in 2013. Sad stuff but I’m glad their family has closure.

Man that was just last year. What a story. Props to Jennifer Mayerle. She's a hell of a person.

We never give up.

There are three unidentified bodies from Camille and we're still looking to identify those.

I was a police officer on the Ms Gulf Coast when Katrina hit. It was a bad time, our whole town was essentially wiped out

I am retired now and I don't have to send my wife and family off anymore without me

That video was more poignant than the documentaries I've seen. I cried for him.

I have never seen that interview until today, but it reminds me of a story from Camille.
