Okay, I'm on a monthly medicine that I had refilled saturday. When I went to take my dose on Sunday it looked a little on the light side. I was suppose to have 60 pills but counted 29. I had taken 1 so that makes 30.

I called and asked the pharmacy about it and to let them know I was 30 pills short. The lady there told me that she counted the pills herself twice before giving them to me Saturday. That is incorrect and she went on to say basically tough shite the owner/pharmacist believes that she counted out 60 pills. Of course, now I'm going to be shy 2 weeks of my medicine. It is a controlled substance, ativan, that I have taken for anxiety along with my lexapro. So... what would any of you guys do if you were me?

I'm sure it looks like I pocketed 30 pills but I didn't. I have never in the years I've been prescribed these misused or abused them. Never even lost any!

I asked the lady if there was any way to count pills they have on hand...maybe that would show an overage on their end proving I was shorted half my pills. Like an inventory. .. she said they can't do that. I'm not only pissed, but screwed!! Any ideas what I can do about this?

File a formal complaint against the pharmacy with whatever governing board they have.

You probably won't get a resolution this time, but if a pattern exists then they can crack down on it

I’m sure they’ve never heard that one before.

I'd definitely call your prescribing physician and get his advice concerning the situation. Perhaps, he / she will intercede with the pharmacy, too.

I had this happen to me. I got 30 pills instead of 60. They accidentally did this because my insurance said they'd only pay for 30. I went back and they gave me another 30.

Take ativan one day and run/exercise the next day for thirty days.

That should cover you for 60 days and you may learn that you really don't need medication to control your anxiety. You just need an outlet.

How do you think people got rid of anxiety before medication? They found outlets for it. Like working outside or exercising.

Next time record yourself breaking the staple on the bag and count the pills.

The dark web is your friend in times like these. Also, if you happen to have 30 extra Ativan pills lying around, I’ve heard it’s a good place to earn a little pocket change.

In all seriousness, if it’s a controlled substance, there is a mountain of shite you can unload on the pharmacy. Sounds like someone there has a problem, and they’ve started stealing customer’s meds. You can reach out to the Board of Pharmacy and try lodge a complaint. Also, you could file a police report. If you have a good rapport with your doctor, you could get another script and an override of the dosing limits.

I do exercise and work my butt off at my job. I understand what you're saying and thank you.

It's kind of like the principle of the matter now. That someone there shorted me, took them for themselves to take or sell, or just is a small town idiot who
Can do this and get away with it. I'm sure they have heard the story before. But they shouldn't paint everyone with the same brush. I'm going to file a complaint and i bet I'm not the only one that has been screwed over like this.
The tattooed white trash he has working there is typical delta scum that would steal pills. But no one will believe me I know.

And yes I will be counting them In their faces from now on

When I worked at CVS, for all controlled substances we had to double-count, and then circle the number on the label and put our initials stating that it had for sure been double-counted. IDK if that helps, but since it's controlled, you definitely should call the pharmacy board and bitch about it

There are no initials or markings on the bottle. But she said she did count twice. I don't know. It's really sad that you cant even trust your pharmacy.

The pharmacy board? Definitely will be doing that today! Thanks !!!

Yes. And I have never ever reported a false shortage or had a shortage ever. I'm going to do a lot of digging. It is the perfect set up for a pill popper...stealing others meds. Who is going to believe me. Over them. No one. Thank you for your help and good ideas!!

I wish this was what I was dealing with here. She said she counted 60 pills. But there were only 30. I don't understand why
They can't count what's been sold and what's left in the surplus bottle at the pharmacy. If it's over 30 pills that proves shes confused and I get the rest of my script.

her resistance to this makes her sound guilty. They absolutely have computer record of that inventory. And to be so sure she counted exactly right, also sounds suspicious.

Well, you know you didn’t steal them so somebody there did. I would threaten to call the police. If it means that much to you

The techs are probably used to counting out 30 and just assumed that's what the quantity was. And now they're trying to cover their arse since they know they messed up
