Scoot, WWL's afternoon talk show host, is recovering from injuries he suffered after a motorcycle hit him while he walking across Canal Street in New Orleans.
"Scoot’s ok, but he’s recovering from some tough injuries to his body," according to a statement from WWL management. "Scoot was struck, knocked unconscious and left injured by a speeding motorcyclist on Canal Street."
New Orleans Police have issued a news released asking for public assistance in finding the hit and run driver of the motorcycle.
"The NOPD is seeking to locate and identify two subjects in the investigation of a hit-and-run vehicle crash that occurred on February 15, 2019 at the intersection of Canal and Bourbon Streets," the release says. "At about 1:42 a.m. at the intersection of Canal and Bourbon Streets, an unknown subject operating a blue motorcycle at a high rate of speed northbound on Canal Street reportedly struck a victim who attempted to cross the street on foot."
Police say the blue motorcycle was accompanied by a red motorcycle traveling in the same direction.
Detectives retrieved some images from surveillance cameras, but due to the speed of the motorcycle and dark conditions, they are not very clear.
"Unfortunately, the pictures from the photo cams on Canal Street are too blurry to make a positive identification due to the high speed of the motorcycle. NOPD is seeking additional video from the area," according to the statement from WWL management.
The search is on for additional images.
"If you own or operate a business near Canal and Bourbon Street and you have video cameras, please reach out to NOPD’s 8th District."
As for Scoot's condition, "The above pictures are of Scoot right after being admitted to the hospital and after getting cleaned up. He did sustain some injuries that will take some time to heal."
The statement goes on to say:
If you care about Scoot - as so many of us do - you can send prayers and well-wishes to Scoot on our WWL Facebook page.
Scoot also sends a big thank you to the good Samaritans who called 911 and stuck around to help him until EMS came... and to those first responders and doctors at University Medical Center.

Poor Scoot, he does not deserve this.
Poor Scoot, though, in his middle 60s, or even pushing 70, and still trying to be hip, rock-and-roll DJ-type from his beginnings 40+ years ago.
