Every Christmas Eve, Hap Glaudi used to play a short video of chimps opening presents around a Christmas tree.

If they could teach chimps to speak and read, they could do an anchor's job. All they do is read what the man behind the curtain puts on the teleprompter,
Stiff neck, monotone, Eric Paulsen with his gallon tankard comes to mind.

Yeah, I remember WWL's news department being really good and serious in the 1980s. Frankly, the Picayune punched well above its weight back then, too. It was head and shoulders above the AJC back then, IMO.

I watch WWL most, like a lot of Fox 8, but when this B comes on , I change the channel and throw up. This picture makes her look better than usual

I used to but Peyton Locicero ain’t there no more.
Anyone know what happened to her. Never heard it mentioned that she was leaving, just stopped seeing her.

I was raised in Walnut Bend in Algiers and Angela and Garland kept a love nest apartment nearby, I believe in or by Garden Oaks apartments. They would come jogging through our neighborhood on weekends. They would actually jog by Bill Elders house before passing ours.

It seemed to me that when Benson bought Fox8, the decline of WWLTV happened. They poached Lee Zurik and others, and invested a lot into the station. WwLTV stayed true to its format with monotone newscast. I remember Dawn Brown stirring the pot with her ditzy yet entertaining dialog. I think she lasted a year before they chose not to renew the contract.
WWL then went all in on Tom Truong and another woman anchor who was very reputable from another market, but they both left. I think Chris Franklin is a great asset as well as Eleanor the reporter. Also, David Hammer is a good investigator.
Overall they are still above average but not on the level they used to be. I remember that when you wanted to know about an important local story in the news, you tuned to WWLTV.
Lastly, the rebroadcast on Spectrum and Cox is the best. Love it and watch it before I pass out every night. It's a NOLA tradition.

The rumor/story is that Garland was kind of a freak and was very much into swinging. At first, Angela Hill went along. After a while, she got tired of it and left his arse.
I used to be a fan of Fox 8/WVUE, however, when Shelley Brown and Kim Holden left they were replaced with two really bad affirmative action anchors. One of them talks like she has 10 pounds of marbles in her mouth. It's gotten to the point that I can’t even watch it anymore. I’ll go to the website and watch the Lee Zurik reports, however, I just can’t watch the awful AA anchors they hired as replacements.

WWL and Fox8 are incredible compared to the national average.
As someone who has lived in the Houston market for 30 years, I will agree on the reporting aspect. It wasn't always the case, but in the last 5 years, stations in Houston are throwing out what looks to be recent college grads in an izod and jeans to read a few notes from their cell phone while stepping all over the English language and the facts of the story. The anchor desks arent much better. I miss drunk arse Dave Ward holding his shite down.
