My friend was posting pics on facebook today of getting to fly in what was being called a little B-25 today. Looked pretty damn cool.
One of the big bombers flew over while I was throwing football with my son late this afternoon. Question to the guys who are into this stuff..... That thing just looked big and slow. Were the big birds that were that big and slow easy targets to get shot down during the war?

Saw some one else say they saw a B1, One did a fly by over LSU for a game years ago.
At the time I had no idea what it was.

They had two b25s the Army version and the Marines version.
Really cool plane.
Though when I read about the Doo Little Raid I always picture them as bigger, they were dwarfed by the other bombers.

I’m on the Northshore. Saw it around 4/5pm.
Commercial flights usually have a flight path that goes over the river but this guy just flew directly over my house, which I’ve never seen.

When "Doc" the "new" B29 landed in Oshkosh this year for the first time the person flying right seat was Brig. General Paul Tibbets III. He is a active duty bomber wing commander, and has flown the B52, B1, and B2. He is the grandson of Paul Tibbets Sr. who flew the B29 Enola Gay which dropped the atomic bomb on Hiroshima. .

We went this morning. It was colder than a witches TT with that north wind blowing off the lake. The planes and other equipment were very cool. I liked the B-29 Fifi. Restored very well (from Ft. Worth, TX). I was amazed at all the rivets in that plane so I counted them. There were 600,023 rivets in that plane! And they built about 4,000 of those things. I bet there were many employees counting rivets in their sleep.

Yes the bombers were slow and usually had fighter escorts. But not always!
