I was in Orange Beach last weekend checking in our hotel and of course things have been wide open there for a while now.
Some woman had already checked in and called the manager and was complaining to him that she was going to inform corporate that they weren't requiring customers to wear mask.
The manager was nice enough, but at the end I guess he had had enough and politely informed her that she probably shouldn't be taking vacations at this time if she was that worried about the mask situation.

This definitely played a part.
What was it, like 90% of people infected with Covid when surveyed said they "always" or "almost always" abided by mask mandates. It was a very public precaution but we know, and have always known, the main vector of transmission was not public - it was close personal contact.
So there were plenty of people who bitched about people not wearing masks walking by them on the street but never stopped seeing their friends and family, never stopped going on vacation, never distanced from family that was exhibiting symptoms, etc.
And for this group, the ones that will wear masks until 2030, it was always political - always a virtue signal. I think that's a very small, vocal minority though.

Don't go to restaurants or businesses that require masks if that bothers you. They have the right to do as they wish. Restaurants took a big hit and some may still be trying to avoid a shutdown if an employee or customer gets Covid.
I have a friend whose mother was vaccinated. Got Covid. Passed away.
I know several other fully vaccinated people who got Covid recently. They may want to wear masks for a while. That's fine. Up to them.
Let folks and businesses do what they want. You can pick and choose with whom you want to do business or with whom you hang around. No need to bitch about it.

This was my first thought. I guess, it will take time before people stop wearing masks and feel safe. Also, there are restrictions that business owners should follow in order not to pay fines.

They have done a great job framing people who don’t wear masks as selfish assholes who don’t care about others. I have had someone tell me the only reason they still wear a mask after being vaccinated is because it makes others feel “safe”.

I'm curious about this as I've read a few too many breakthrough cases on this website from a couple different people.
How far after vaccination were these people getting COVID?
Seems like for something that's such a rare event gets reported on this website.
Genuinely curious.
ETA: I know that in many breakthrough cases, folks were asymptomatic, so why they get tested idk.

So people have screamed this whole time that businesses should decide whether they want folks to mask up without the government telling them to.
That’s what they’re choosing to do. Could be they are looking out for unvaccinated staff or something? It’s within their right just like it’s within your right to not go there if it bothers you so much.

Arkansas Restaurant Requiring Vaxx Proof
Friend of mine and his family went to a restaurant in Arkansas last night. They made them show proof of vaccine in order to be seated.
From what I understand, he made it known loudly that it’s okay to vote in Arkansas without an id, but you can’t sit down and eat without papers.
Then took to Facebook.
