Another victim of a rapidly declining neighborhood. That part of Sherwood 15 or so years ago was rather decent. Now it looks awful and declining fast.

Before even opening this thread, immediately I thought it was going to be about a homicide.

Didn't this Oasis place get caught up in the Sammy's Grill ownership issues with not paying employees and such a couple years ago? Like they diverted money to build this place.

I won't be surprised when it happens. Seems like they're asking for it

That part of Sherwood has looked the same for the last 10 years. Compared to the rest of Baton Rouge, it has gone up like the rest of Baton Rouge. You’re a fool.

What on earth are you talking about?

It looks awful. Buildings are looking outdated. The median is overgrown. There’s litter everywhere and just looked nowhere like it did 15-20 years ago.

Eventually the Varsity recovered

Did they though?

By all accounts from what I’ve heard not many people go there anymore.

My story above was from 15 years ago. They definitely recovered in that time frame.

COVID bit them in the arse though. No live shows in forever, but they were open for LSU game day yesterday as per normal, so maybe they will be making a comeback

The varsity doesn't exist anymore. No more shows or bands. The space is just am extention of The Chimes now. Chelsea's Live is opening up this Winter however

On Thursday and sunday nights late they do have a dj and attract a different crowd but 90% of the it is a regular restaurant and patio bar. It is very difficult to open something like that during covid. Doing what they can to pay the bills and stay open till restaurant/volleyball is stabilize. Strange people sitting around wanting businesses to fail.

You clearly don’t have to deal with the bullshite that comes from that place on their “just trying to pay the bills” nights.

They got shut down for selling to minors twice during covid. Solid business plan. Won't be long before they get shut down again.

How long have you worked for Oasis? I'm glad the 27th interview lead to a job offer for you. Better than living off Uncle Joe
