Marxist millennials are trying to destroy American traditions and thus American culture by distorting our language.

It's ok if you think cultural observations are melting

They're not, but I'm ok with you pretending otherwise because parsing through actual dialogue is a challenge

Would you like to feel more special by recognizing your autism?

I've known you were on the spectrum since the first day you posted.

This is true. And Friendsgiving will probably contribute to that in some small and largely isolated ways, although not the original purpose of the idea.

Straight white republican male. Can confirm we used to do this in college the Wednesday before Thanksgiving with our friends and fraternity people.

Yeah, sometimes a cigar is just a cigar. I may personally think calling it "Friendsgiving" is kind of dumb, but it doesn't have to be some Rousseauian plot to subvert the American holiday tradition.

That being said, now that I know that it makes Roger run outside and yell at clouds, I'm all for using it as much as possible.

We didn’t call it anything but the night before or night of thanksgiving was when we all went out to party because people were back in town. As we all got married and had kids, it slowly ended.

don’t think it’s meant to be political, I think it’s just something people started doing to celebrate with friends they actually like before doing Thanksgiving with their families
Holy shite. A sane, rational person

I can’t fathom living with this amount of paranoia

I'm sure we're just scratching the surface of things that fall into the categories of 1) real and 2) things you cannot fathom

It comes from people getting together with friends rather than going home with family.

I don't see why that would necessitate a name change. It wasn't Familysgiving before.

Can confirm, married to a woman who had a "Live, Love, Laugh" sign in our house until it got "broken" in a move. We already have two Friendsgivings planned

t's for friends getting together for Thanksgiving when they can't be with family

So why do they have to call it something else? This has gone on for years before now, and it was still called thanksgiving— for food and those very friends they were with. It’s still Thanksgiving, whether you are thankful for family, friends, enemies, etc. No need to be cute with it.
