San Jose State ranked ahead of Vanderbilt? What kind of garbage ranking is this?

These list take a lot of factors into play. Affordability and bang for your buck play huge roles. Also student life and the town in which the University resides. Tulane is expensive and resides in the shithole that New Orleans has become! It’s a mediocre scholastic school at best and relies on rich families to send there kids their from across the country.
The plus side to all this is Auburn finally beat Alabama !

I big driver is career opportunity and future earnings. aTm is hard to beat in that regard. Are they weird? Yep…..not as bad as the Yell Leading shite we see.

Idk man, there are only 146 R1 research universities in the country, 3 in Louisiana, being LSU, Tulane, ULL. To rank any R1 school out of the 146 mark, which they did to all 3 is pretty asinine and negates that whole list. Any R1 school will have your best return on investment for any STEM and business degree.

I think there may be something bad wrong with the data or the compilation of the data.
Texas is not below aTm by 13 spots.
Look at the top 20 - Harvard outside the top 5? Virginia Tech and San Jose State in the top 20? Get outta here.

Don't hate me for it, but add Aggie to that short list as well. They might be weird, but you can't argue with their rankings in academics.
A&M is not in the same league as Texas or Florida.

San Jose State has a huge presence in Silicon Valley. A lot of Spartans making $$$ in The Valley.

In real life, they are an excellent choice for your kids education. A conservative (relatively speaking) institution top 50 nationally in the heart of conservative Texas in a relatively small town with a low crime rate and an absurdly safe campus.
My daughter's senior year of H.S., we went to an A&M family weekend and the university president opened the event by saying we are still a conservative university. I nodded approval. 5 minutes later, the milk men got on stage, and I shook off that approval.
She's a freshman there now. Being a Texan, wanting to stay in Texas, I'm glad she went there instead of Austin. Holy shite, that place is nearly a Seattle-like disaster.

My senior has been visiting colleges in-state and out-of-state. If the tours are any indicator of current performance, LSU would be way lower on this list.
I hear this a lot from friends of mine whose grandkids go on college visits to out of state schools.
It seems if LSU would put a little time and effort into non-athletic recruiting, it would pay huge dividends.

Think of the most right-leaning conservative person in world history. Now look to the right of that. That's me.
When I was in Austin/at Texas, I expected it to be a shite show and assumed I'd have to deal with a lot of nonsense. Much to my surprise, it wasn't and I didn't.
At UT, the social sciences may have some loons (just like at any school), but there was ZERO bullshite in the business school. I mean NONE.
As far as Austin in general, the dumb stuff is pretty localized. I went about my normal routine just like I did/do back home in DFW and hardly noticed much difference.
It's a big city and Austin takes pride in being "weird", but this narrative that it's akin to San Francisco is very overblown.

There is no way on Earth San Jose State is a better school than Vanderbilt.
