quote:I think they're already laying the foundation to win in the courts. The executive branch has enhanced powers during times of conflict. Naturalized citizens might be a bit of a stretch but they could easily revoke visas and review the status for others. The other side of it is who do you support and who do you allow to stay? You can't just deport all citizens from Iran because you would have people who are on America's side get caught up in it.
I am sure multiple Dem judges will protect their future allies and will continue to be party first by following the party line on this, but it has to begin and pushed up to Supreme’s if necessary.
That leaves you with what could be argued as religious persecution. The government could point to not cracking down after the 1993 WTC bombing made 9/11 easier. With where we've gone in the past 25 years you'd still have people like the Squad whining. Hell, they'd probably argue against the government making a point of it.
Let's be real though. The press has been comparing ICE to NAZIs for rounding up illegals. They'll go out of their minds if we start revoking legal status from their Muslim friends. (Especially when you've got to think Omar will be one of the first if they start revoking naturalized citizenship.) The same for not allowing re-entry to shove foreign college students this summer.

Middle East policy pundit I heard on the news the other day: "It will end in a stalemate and both sides with claim victory. And when both sides claim victory, round 2 is inevitable." Seemed pretty poignant.

It's inevitable. The Iranian government is too entrenched in a society that isn't able or willing to overthrow them. America doesn't have the stomach to do what it would take to "win" this war.
It's a stupid war that we never should have gotten ourselves involved in.

Bob McNally, who was an energy advisor to George W. Bush during the Iraq War and now a consultant, was just on 60 Minutes. Supports bombing Iran, but he predicts that gas prices will go to an all-time high if they don't get shipping traffic going through the Strait of Hormuz soon. Retarded diesel prices would also spur inflation.
…Now 60 Minutes is having a segment about drone laser shooting technology. Aerovarment (AV) or something like that. U.S. has already ordered and is currently using them around the Mexican border, which explains why the airspace over El Paso was shut down. None around Iran, however.
Can spot a drone up to 7 miles away. Each unit costs 8 million dollars and can be stationary or rigged up to the back of a truck. Technology still primitive, however. Sand and fog and sust can make them frick up.

Trump would say Iran is crippled. Iranian regmine would say that we're still here and we fought off the evil empire. Pins and needles after that until someting pops off again.

60 Minutes was pretty good tonight. The CBS news division has gotten better since upper management came down on the leftist shite they aired with impunity. The Mitch Albom story was cool. Nice to see people who put their money where their mouth is.
The laser story felt like the government went to an entry level/2 generation old systems developer and asked them to show a proof of concept. There's no way the story would be aired if that's the best we've got. Alternatively, did they even reference Iran in the interview itself? If not, perhaps it's a story they started after El Paso and the timing just worked out. Again, them hammering home 7 miles and the weather "problem" is something you'd want for enemy to believe was your best.

Trump briefed that Iran’s new Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei is probably gay
President Trump was stunned to learn last week that US intelligence indicates new Iranian Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei may be gay — and that his father, the late Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, feared his suitability to rule the Islamic Republic for that reason, The Post can reveal.
… All three sources say the implausible-sounding allegation is viewed as credible by US spy agencies, rather than false information intended to undermine Khamenei, 56, who was selected to replace his dead father as supreme leader on March 8.
Two of the sources said the intelligence indicated that Mojtaba, who earned the nickname “the power behind the robes” while serving as his aging dad’s gatekeeper, has had a long-term sexual relationship with his childhood tutor.
… Mojtaba, who is believed to have been wounded in the same Feb. 28 airstrike that killed his father and other members of his family, has made “aggressive” sexual overtures to men caring for him, possibly while under the influence of heavy medication, one of The Post’s sources said.
US spy agencies do not have photographic evidence of Mojtaba Khamenei’s alleged sexual attraction to men, but the sources insisted the tip is solid, with one saying it was “derived from one of the most protected sources that the government has.”

While it wouldn’t surprise in such a repressed society with archaic views on women and being right next door to the boys for fun muslims, but I do wonder if this is just being pushed to get him to make a mistake on his location, Or Maybe just to make him look weak along with those who pushed him in as Supreme.
It could also be true, and releasing it now is just about timing as it’s not recently learned intel and could have been released when he was first chosen or even before.

I cannot in good conscience support the ongoing war in Iran. Iran posed no imminent threat to our nation, and it is clear that we started this war due to pressure from Israel and its powerful American lobby.
I support the values and the foreign policies that you campaigned on in 2016, 2020, 2024, which you enacted in your first term. Until June of 2025, you understood that the wars in the Middle East were a trap that robbed America of the precious lives of our patriots and depleted the wealth and prosperity of our nation.
In your first administration, you understood better than any modern President how to decisively apply military power without getting us drawn into never-ending wars. You demonstrated this by killing Qasam Solamani and by defeating ISIS.
Early in this administration, high-ranking Israeli officials and influential members of the American media deployed a misinformation campaign that wholly undermined your America First platform and sowed pro-war sentiments to encourage a war with Iran. This echo chamber was used to deceive you into believing that Iran posed an imminent threat to the United States, and that should you strike now, there was a clear path to a swift victory. This was a lie and is the same tactic the Israelis used to draw us into the disastrous Iraq war that cost our nation the lives of thousands of our best men and women. We cannot make this mistake again.
As a veteran who deployed to combat 11 times and as a Gold Star husband who lost my beloved wife Shannon in a war manufactured by Israel, I cannot support sending the next generation off to fight and die in a war that serves no benefit to the American people nor justifies the cost of American lives.
I pray that you will reflect upon what we are doing in Iran, and who we are doing it for. The time for bold action is now. You can reverse course and chart a new path for our nation, or you can allow us to slip further toward decline and chaos. You hold the cards.
It was an honor to serve in your administration and to serve our great nation.

Donald Trump said he's glad that his top counterterrorism official resigned over the war with Iran.

quote:
'When I read his statement I realized that it's a good thing that he's out because he said that Iran was not a threat. Iran was a threat – every country realized what a threat Iran was,' the President insisted. [...]
Former Trump deputy Chief of Staff Taylor Budowich suggested that Kent was already on track to be fired and called him a 'crazed egomaniac' responsible for 'national security leaks' out of his agency.
'He spent all of his time working to subvert the chain of command and undermine the President of the United States,' Budowich wrote on X upon news of his departure. 'This isn't some principled resignation—he just wanted to make a splash before getting canned. What a loser.'
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said that Kent's insistence that Iran posed no immediate threat to the US is the 'same false claim that Democrats… have been repeating over and over.'
She said that Trump had 'strong and compelling evidence that Iran was going to attack the United States first.'
Trump said that there would have been nuclear wars if he did not end the Iran Nuclear Deal and then decide to engage in strikes in the country on February 28.
'If I didn't terminate Obama's horrible deal that he made – the Iran Nuclear Deal – you would have had a nuclear war, four years ago. You would have had nuclear holocaust. And you would have had it again if we didn't bomb the site,' he said to press gathered in the Oval Office on Tuesday.
