produce hydrogen from natural gas
This is stupid. Natural gas is already a readily available, efficient and inexpensive fuel.
They are adding steps, processes and costs for no reason other than to satisfy false environmental dreams.
Start making hydrogen fuel out of water and then we can talk. Leave the natural gas as natural gas.

Clean" Hydrogen is by far the most expensive form of energy.. the fact that it got so much traction during the Biden admin is quite telling (in the war between platitudes and physics, physics is undefeated)
I’ve seen several companies trying to takes advantage of the hydrogen as well as the carbon capture scams put forth by the Feds. None of these initiatives are remotely viable without massive govt subsidies.

The pressure and geology down 1 mile + below the lake solidifies the CO2
Great what happens when the formation ruptures and cant maintain pressure?
Just like all of the oil & natural gas which flooded your home for decades before we started drilling for it?

Today, most hydrogen is extracted from natural gas, a process that adds carbon dioxide to the atmosphere.
FFS, why not just use LNG then?
FFS...

This is Louisiana we’re talking about. The more likely scenario is very few cats are being neutered and that $50K/year is going right into the pocket of someone’s buddy.

frick these people. When they first started speaking of doing this, they had their employees come on TD and denigrate anybody that did not praise them and their bullshite. If you asked a question about safety, they swarmed you.

My dad knew Leonard Pool, the founder of Air Products.
Pool died in the mid 1970s.
That's all I got.

There is a good reason why you don't see cars and trucks using hydrogen gas as a fuel source. You just can't put it in a fuel tank like diesel or gasoline.
You should probably inform Toyota Toyota Mirai and Honda Honda CR-V!
And while you're at it, you might want to have California tear down the Hydrogen pumps.

Research suggests that the total cost of ownership for hydrogen cars can be 40% higher than a gasoline vehicle and 10% higher than an EV, according to the MIT Climate Portal.

I haven't researched it, and really don't have a dog in the hunt. I was just replying to the statement "You just can't put it in a fuel tank like diesel or gasoline."

My concern with this thing was that they were going to “store” billions of gallons of CO2 “forever” underground. What happens when that leaks or ruptures?
Almost the same thing that would have happened if the reservoirs we got it out of would have leaked or ruptured. All of the CO2 they are talking about was already underground, in one form or another. We take it out of underground reservoirs, use it, then take the unused molecules of carbon dioxide and return it to underground reservoirs. It’s not so scary when you look at it that way.

Theres a reason modern unmanned weapons are still being designed around diesel. You simply cannot get better energy density onto a non-micro-sized platform than you can with diesel. Still can't.
Nuclear is the answer. Always was the answer. It's the only answer. Anybody who has taken entry level thermodynamics and is honest with themselves beyond trying to pillage government grant money knows it.
