Wreck accident report question for 5.0...

My son (17) was just in a 3 car, car wreck. He was the first car and got rear-ended by the guy behind him that got rear-ended by the guy behind him. My son is not hurt, TIA for asking.
I was talking to him on the phone and cop on scene told him to hang up so that she could talk to him. We have officers name and a case number. He was told that it would be 7-10 days before a police report is available.
So my question; is the 7-10 days a normal turn around for an accident police report? City cop in a town of about 25,000.

Yes, he has to write it...submit it to supervisor....who has to approve it....then send it to clerks to be filed.
Factor in days off and 7-10 days is normal.
It could be ready sooner....but 7-10 days is safe.

Thank you for the reply's.
Well, I would like to get the car fixed and I would rather file against their insurance than mine. Since, IMHO he was a "not at fault" driver their insurance should cover the costs and I will need the police report for this to happen.
Damage is the drivers side rear bumper is crushed (plastic) and the metal truck has a slight buckle.

I am picking up a bit of indignation here. After "I am fine" he should have gotten off the phone. Tell you what, I am going to schedule a meeting with you at your office and then show up and talk on the phone to someone else to use up your time. Let's see how you like that.

He should of been given the names and insurance company of the other drivers, call them and initiate a claim, they can get stuff goin before they get a police report, especially if it is cut and dry, and getting hit from behind usually is
And if that does not work, and assuming you have full coverage, contact your insurance company, pay the deductible, and they will get your car repaired and refund your deductible when they get everything straight with the opposing company

All those TV lawyers will be happy to send your son to a chiropractor, work up a bunch of medical bills, try to find some back problems, and then take 1/3 to 40% of a fraction of what your son's case is really worth.
But since he is not really hurt, then I suppose it's all good.

Time to cash in baw. Tell your son to go to the doctor and tell him his neck hurts. Get the neck brace put on and wait for the settlement call from the insurance.
