Would you work as BRPD/NOPD, $120K/yr
You would have to work the NBR and similar type districts. Respond to domestic violence calls too.
Not for double or triple that in BR, especially under the current administration and Chief.
There is no amount of money you could offer me to be a cop in NOLA though. I legit don't think I have a price tag on that one.

For the area, 20 year pension? Sheeeeet, retire by 40 guaranteed pension $100k/year.
It’s actually around 25-30 years. You get around 78%-81% of your highest three years. Most stack OT in these three years so their pensions will equal normal salary or higher. Plus for 5 years the city matches your base salary puts it in an account plus interest and that’s yours when you leave plus your regular mustering out money’s. So with salary for $120 a year you’re looking at $600,000 in a secured account building interest. In a bad 5 year run you’re looking at anywhere from $750,000 to $850,000 plus another $100,000 in mustering out money. So basically a million dollars plus $120,000 a year for the rest of your life and then your spouses life. Plus throw in healthcare until you reach Medicaid. If you were smart and set up most of your overtime in a deferred comp account on the side so it would make another million. You’re looking at hitting the lottery after a very fulfilling career. This is why people become cops, fireman and so on is the end game. Also why it’s mostly generations of family because they see the benefits.

Full pension at 40 so yeah. If you get there.

Doesn’t seem like the correct recruitment strategy considering how too heavy/bloated NOPD already is.

also. regardless of the job, I’d require $150k+/year to even consider moving to Nola. Unless I’m raking it in, I’m not moving my family to that 3rd world shite hole.

I’d def work for NOPD for 120k. I think a lot of people would.
