No question about it. I’d make it a permanent filter.

Illegals... Any illegal but please go ahead. I would hate to ruin your bullshite narrative.

You know very well that there are hispanic Americans that are MAGA AF but you'd probably call them an Uncle Pedro for them immigrating legally.

How about a "not made in China" option?

There are some good products coming out of Europe as well as from some of the developing nations in the Middle East and SE Asia.

Or would "assembled in China" start appearing on the descriptions?

Made in the Western Hemisphere ..... maybe?

No.

I'm posting from a computer that has an American name but mainly made overseas.

Again, I didn't ask if you would only buy American goods forever.

I just asked if you'd use a filter on Amazon to see if there are similar American options to foreign options.

I think they'd need to have "Country of Origin" filters like they have brand name filters for some things.

But let's be honest. "Made in America" can mean lots of things. For example, I have a custom made computer with expensive parts put together in America. Those parts are almost always assembled overseas. Does that count as being "Made in America" to people?

It's honestly pretty selfish to NOT purchase Chinese products because of some questionable things their government did. They have families in need just like we do.

I could not care less if some fricking little Chinese family doesn’t get to eat because of my buying habits. frick China.

The "China benefiting from stimulus money" thread had me thinking about this more.

Normally, I just buy the item that has the best reviews and is competitively priced, but right now, I think I'd do that same due diligence but only comparing American made products to help American companies.

I'm guessing that would be very non-PC and they'd never do that.

I think Amazon would get push-back from many of their largest retailers since many sell mainly Chinese made goods.

However, buying locally made products has been a huge trend / project for "progressives" for decades.

How many are posting in this thread from an iphone or any phone. Chances are 90% of the phone parts are made in China.

Hell yes i would.

I would much rather get stuff from US countries and support the economy here than go across the ocean

Isn’t that an effect rather than a cause though?

Sure.

Went to Lowe’s to buy some tools and it was amazing how Scruffy literally couldn’t find anything that was made in America.

Was willing to pay more for it too.

I own almost no Chinese tools (technically 2 from China and 1 Built In the USA with...). Getting high-quality American made tools is sometimes hard due to availability but German, Swiss etc are easy to find. While no directly supporting the US if enough people switch to quality Euro tools the US made tools will slowly come back.

My wife and I have made a conscious effort to buy nothing Chinese for the last 14 years and it is rare we have to stray at least knowingly.
