You should probably go talk to someone.

Seriously.

I'm not the one trying to fill a hole in my life with a dog that has been bred to please which allows me to project onto it all manner of feelings I wish it to have for me.

You absolutely do, probably with something much more useless than a dog.

Exactly. Anyone that refers to a pet as "my kid" is fricking strange... unless you normally buy your children from another person and have them put down 10-15 yrs later.

No. Full life. That's why I wouldn't risk it over a dog.

You nasty bastard, you're right. You just took it to a level I wasn't prepared for.

There are dangers that you can’t shoot, Bubba.

Anyone that does not carry is fricking strange.

Focus on the actual problem. You're not prepared, and you helped get your dog/cat/kid killed. Call them all valuable assets which you appear unprepared to protect. Dog/Cat less valuable than child, but they're close to the same in what they are. Defenseless and dependent upon you. Do more.

Sure, which is why I said you should go talk to someone. A trained professional will help you figure it out.

It would depend on my immediate analysis of what the risk vs reward would be.

What if your cat was family and you defended it???

If someone wanted to kill your kitty and you shot them... Would you be justified because cats are considered family?

It happens...

A couple posters from the OT did it a few weeks ago when they went to New Orleans East.

Depends on the state. Generally, in the normal states (the south) you are allowed to protect your property with deadly force, (a $35 lawnmower included), ESPECIALLY if it is on your property. I'll kill you if you frick with my cat, no problem.

IANAL.
