ULM's pharmacy program is top notch. Don't pay the extra money

Also, enjoy less traffic for a while, Monroe is an ok place for a few years.

Go to ULM. After you graduate, and while still single, go work retail pharmacy in a cool city.

Do you have any idea of where you want to live after school? If you are planning on going back to your home town or staying in LA why would you pay the extra $ for essentially the same degree? If you were in some kind of international banking or international law then I would say go to the most prestigious school you can get in but this seems like a no brainer.

There's definitely something to be said for living in a place like Monroe in your early 20s. If you're from Louisiana and don't plan on leaving, it's probably not a big deal, but living in Ft Worth or Houston is a HUGE upgrade for a single person in their 20s.

I went out of state. They waivered my out of stare tuition.
Also I got lucky, I'm only a P2 but my school does a really good job of working with graduates to land them spots. If I were you I'd consider other options. The profession is going to shite with new schools popping up left and right. If I didn't get into a school with tuition less than 10k a semester no way I would have done pharmacy.

Many still only require two years. Xavier isn't even in the top 100. The professors wore blue jeans to my interview and came 15 minutes late. Most unprofessional of the three I went on

Isn't ULM's pharmacy schools pretty good

In the 80s and 90s it was a national leader in the field. Other schools started pumping money into their programs and ULM took a hit.

That said, nearly every top rated pharmacy school has some type of tie to UL-M through joint research, professors, etc.

A UL-M pharmacy degree is a still a very well respected degree across the nation.

I was just making him aware of it. All my folks graduated from the Harrison School of Pharmacy.

Anyone that tells you to go out of state for that degree is a fool. Monroe is fine for studying and is cheap. I was always minimally jealous of the pharm students.

88 out of 136. Not even in the top half.

Idk why anyone would even consider going into a private school for pharmacy and paying 30k a year. After living expenses and whatnot you're looking at 150k + in loans.

Nobody particularly likes Monroe.

In all seriousness... If it's similar education, go the cheaper route.

Many schools waiver out of state tuition if you have a high enough GPA. If you don't want to be stuck
In Louisiana or want to live in a certain part of a country, it's a great way to at least see something new for a few years. Everyone said that you won't have time to do fun stuff anyway, that is complete BS. I'm am more than happy I went out of state rather than be stuck in monroe. We did tons of fun stuff

White Coat Investor

Read this. It's targeted towards physicians/medical students, but totally applicable towards your situation as well.

ULM is a good option for pharmacy school. Its not foever plus you will be studying most of the time. Don't put yourself in to much debt.
