That will never happen as long as their nursing and pharmacy stay there

I would go with what you can afford, if it's ULM, go there. Where you go isn't as important as your grades and attitude.

Those will eventually be absorbed in Louisiana Tech. The days of supporting universities that operate on a community college level are soon over. ULM has had years to move themselves into Tier One status, but will now obviously never make it.

They are in the most depressed city in a very depressed state. Time to suck it up and break off what little can be salvaged from that dump for the betterment of the Pelican State.

This was the decision I faced when choosing schools. I've been at ULM for 3 years and haven't regretted a second of it. Yes there's certain things that kinda suck alittle there but there's also certain things that are great compared to other schools. It being smaller I find you get better 1 on1 instruction from profs/advisors. Also the people (with a few exceptions) are great to deal with and genuinely want to see you succeed. The cheapness is also an added bonus.

ULM has such a bad rep around the state but I feel like it's just because people don't know much about it. I'm going on my senior year and I've thoroughly enjoyed my time hear.

So, in a nutshell, you are weighing short term gratification based on "liking" a town vs. long term debt...... I'm not sure there is a lot to think about in this case.

ULM if you want Pharmacy. Your attitude towards the town will change if you find good friends, which you will. friends and family make you happy, not the city in which you live (within reasonable limits)

The only absorption is Grambling absorbing La Tech. Go to a hospital and see if you cant tell the difference between a ULm RN and a tech Rn. Its scarey to be honest.

Pharmacy School is Pharmacy School, it doesn't matter where you go, you will be wanted and be compensated greatly.

Stay in state, save the 56K and spend it on a nice car or boat vs having to pay more in student loans.
