Would you pay more so your server could have health insurance?

Chicago Tribune article

Personally this bullshite. A server job shouldn’t be a career, it’s a stepping stone for a better career. Adding a surcharge to customers in order for your employees to have health insurance, is fricked up.

No thanks. I subsidize enough healthcare with my current taxes.

Let them pay whatever they want. If the costs of eating out go up enough, people (like myself) will eat in and they can pay for health insurance the hard way.

Some people can only learn through failure.

I hope “Fat Rice” closes down because of this. If it’s somewhat of a success, I can see this becoming the norm for restaurants.

I’m not sure what you linked. It’s trying to open an app on my phone.

NO. If your employer doesn’t offer health insurance, find a new job. Simple shite. Next.

I’d pay the 4% but they would not get a tip . Kinda like when they add 15% to the Check I won’t add the 5% to equal the at least 20% they would normally get.

Wouldn’t that mean that there would be no waiters because no one would do the job?

This didn’t even cross my mind. Every receipt I signed would have a short paragraph on why I didn’t tip the full 20% so these mooching fricks would learn what they’re doing is wrong.

Great, life imitates Tarantino.

If servers want more money, she can take me in the back and suck my dick. I’d go over 10% for that.

If they aren’t adding value to the product equal to or greater than what they are demanding, they can frick off.

Not everyone who waits needs health insurance.

Lots of waiters and waitresses are HS or college students. Or actors looking for their next big break.

If you are over 30 and still waiting tables, you are either moonlighting or you have far bigger problems than health insurance.

Wrong question.

Could medical cost be lower so health insurance wasn't so high?

They aren't all losers. Some might be trying to pay their own way through college. And since they don't have a college degree (yet) they have fewer good job options.

And someone has to do that job unless you prefer to eat all your meals at home.

That said, if you make it more expensive to eat at a restaurant people will do it less often and it ends up being self defeating. And this particular tactic is a scam to get gullible progressives to pay for insurance instead of the restaurant.

Bringing back catastrophic policies (low premium high deductable) would help.

Most young people don’t need regular insurance, just catastrophic in case they suffer from trauma or certain illnesses (appendicitis, kidney stones, etc).

Dumping those policies and forcing people to buy current ones means spending a lot of money for shite they don’t need.
