I'd drive anything... Just for the hell of it.. But if I had to buy it to drive it, I wouldn't.

he z71 package wasn’t offered on the Tahoe until 2000. Last 2 doors were 99 models.
I know RPO Z/71 was mentioned several times in my 1997 Tahoe Service Manual.

Had one when kids were little. It was a tank. And to this day was the best auto we have ever had.

You are right. It was an option just without the tail decals like the pickups. My bad. I’ll go hide now.

If you can’t get laid in that thing, just give up on life.

My old boss drives one like that but a little more beat up....
He owns the company and is pretty stealthy about his wealth in public...parks it at his hanger for his jet when we traveled...

No harm done. Agree that a lot of stickers were purchased for them.
Shame that my Tahoe started out as one of the worst vehicles I ever owned. The fault list was so long, the Dealer and I discussed replacing it under the Lemon Law provisions. But with that said, everything thing that was repaired or replaced never had another problem in that area and it turned out to be a pretty good vehicle once the demons were chased away.

totally would drive that. dream car would be a '99 white suburban with black fender flares. Would love to find one of those in decent condition.

I mean, that was my first car, so yeah I’d drive it.

I had a 97 4x4 Suburban and it ate transmissions. It also had some engine parts that were made from plastic, I don’t remember if it was the cooling system or intake but they should have never been made from plastic and it was expensive to repair when the parts failed. Great tailgating vehicle though. I would buy one again to keep at a second home or to use for a weekend vehicle for running to the lumber yard or towing a boat to a close by launch.

The newer ones look good to me. Not as nice as Tony Soprano's T400 generation, but the 1980s and 1990s were the high water mark for all truck makers IMO.
Junk, Junk and more junk. GM makes nothign but junk and I gurantee you that new one isnt getting more 250k mi without major work.

The early 4L60 was a horrible transmission. Went out on my Tahoe at 28k.
The upper half of the intake manifold was plastic which also housed the fuel injection spider & fuel pressure regulator. How that engine was able to breath with all that mess under there was a miracle. The only thing that was a plus was the vortec cylinder heads which were actually quite good.
If everything was sorted out, the 5.7L was a good strong motor.

Chevy and Ford make terrible full sized trucks.
Buy a Toyota. It’s carved out of a solid piece of stone and never requires maintenance
The 99 to 09 Chevys are the best trucks ever made. They shame Toyota. My current 09 2500 HD has 207k miles and every single thing except the fluids is original.
