Would you buy a demo/loaner car?

With very low mileage or go straight new?

Straight new probably costs less nowadays.

Depends on the car and price difference between new vs loaner

Depends on the deal but your probably better off getting new between the discounts, better finance options, and warranty.

Bought my current truck as a demo, had a few 3000 miles on it. Sold as new with all ford incentives and warranty extended. Ended up saving around 20k

Just went through this scenario when choosing new ride for the wife.
Littlerally came down to color she liked best and saved about $6800

I bought my son a car with 15K miles on it. New one was listed at 18K and got this one for 11K. It came with original factory warranty (5 years; 100K miles). It was essentially brand new and has served him well so far in college.
I bought a certified,pre-owned Toyota SUV. It had 25K miles and came with all the bells and whistles. I’ve had it for 6 years with no major repairs.
Do your research and go for it.

It depends. Would I consider it? Yes. Would I always buy demo/loaner over new? No.
There's so much variability in negotiating. Some dealers give great cash incentives on new cars especially if there's a new model coming out and you don't mind having the outgoing model.

Demos are sold as new vehicles in most instances because they were never titled. Thus they qualify for the same incentives

I recently purchased an F150 and was surprised to find dealers were not willing to offer much of a discount on their demo models that had 1,000-4,500 miles.
The best offer I received was $1000 off a 2019 demo with 4000 miles compared to an identical 2020 with 10 miles.

The most expensive vehicle I ever bought was a demo/show car off a dealers floor in L.A. and had it shipped to LA.
Bought it because it had every option available.
It was about 4 years old and had a CPO warranty and Im glad it did. The first couple years of owning it I needed that warranty several times. Car only had about 30-40k miles on it and it shutdown on me on a road trip 3 hours from my house. Turns out it needed both cats replaced, a part that is expected to last 100k miles or longer, and a few other exhaust related items. My theory is that the previous owner was using low octane/quality fuel when premium is required.
Moral of the story. Never buy an expensive used vehicle without a warranty. Drive the shite out of it when you first get it to force-reveal any issues. If there are issues they will show in the first couple years.

My MINI was a fleet rental car with 4500 miles on it when I bought it. Currently has 165,000 miles.

New Q7s are very reliable. I’m planning on getting one for my wife. Our Q5 has served us very well too.
My first car out of college was an 05 TSX in December 2006 with 20000 miles. It was a loaner car for Acura BR. It was CPO but I only needed that warranty for a couple little things like a fuse. Drove it until 183k. Based on the Q7s reliability I wouldn’t worry about it.

Lot of factors can go into this decision, but almost all of my cars (except one) have been 2 years old with very low mileage.
The only one I bought brand new was because it didn't make sense to buy 1 or 2 years old due to the mileage reimbursement program my former employer had in place.
I'd almost always go 1-2 years old with low mileage. Too much depreciation the minute you drive off the lot.
