The money would keep me there for a while but eventually it just isn't worth it no matter what. I know the whole story and I can tell you that he made the right call.

The guy started expecting more and more, such as the entire crew getting on a plane on Xmas night with no notice and flying to meet the yacht and prep it for his arrival. They did it and then the guy never showed.

Problem with that is, you would have no personal time to relax and enjoy you're salary.

Presumably you'd get time off same as any other job. But it might not be weekend/holiday time off. Say he has a ski lodge where he likes to entertain guests/clients. So you have to work over Christmas and New Year's. But you might have a month off in the summer or something like that.

yup, I could see it as a stepping stone, resume building job for a young single, go getter with career ambitions and goals in mind, but that would be the extent of it

I would also think that he probably has some serious skills as a chef if he managed to get the job in the first place. He probably had options. Top level chefs can make really good money at high end restaurants.

Just because you technically can tell an employee to do something doesn't mean that it's cool and no big deal. It's certainly worth quitting over if someone becomes difficult to work with.
My point is yeah, someone can be demanding if it's within the job requirements, but I can also get a new job if I decide it isn't worth it.
