In my Acura, sure. In my Excursion with 5 other people towing a boat/trailer/4-wheeler, hell no.

I got up to 100 for a stretch of deserted highway in Montana one time. I was comfortable but I felt like I had to keep extreme focus the entire time far more than even at 70.
when I was at LSU in the late '80s I got to 98 on Florida, and my car wouldn't go any faster

I drove faster than that on the Autobahn.
I felt okay, but I felt like I had to be focused at all times.
Something I think the average American would have a hard time doing.

I’m not sure I’ve ever driven any faster than 90mph tbh. Though much like everywhere I drive, I’m not worried so much about my ability to operate a vehicle as much as I am the ability of those around me

I live in Germany and drive on the autobahn frequently and higher speeds are great and all ,but the problem is too many stupid people are on the roads in LA. You can't even get people to understand the concept of not riding in the left lane much less set the speed limit at 90. Hell people are too stupid to figure out how to use a traffic circle. There are many great people in our great state ,but sadly we have way too many bad drivers on the road to ever be able to raise the speed limit to 90.

I was on a rural highway in SE Montana on a long downhill where I could see for mikes. Realized I was already close to 90 so I got it up to 100 for a few minutes until I saw another cat.

Hell no. Not me I’m worried about.

It’s the ones doing 60 on that same stretch of highway and the morons in the left lane doing 75.

Raise it to 80, but not enforce until after 90.

I have also driven a lot in Germany, the autobahn is kept in better condition than the U.S. interstates, cars are in better condition, 18 wheelers are strictly relegated to the right lane with a low speed limit I think it was 60MPH, and the German drivers are generally focused on driving. Considering all of that 85-90 MPH was where I felt comfortable for extend periods of time and most of the other traffic seemed to fall into that range, more speed equals less margin for error and more stress. Allowing 90 MPH on most interstates would just result in more carnage.

ok you're talking about a thread from 5+ years ago

who are you an alter for?

Does changing your username (aka starting over) = alter? Serious question.

I’ll check with my butlers chauffeur and get back to you.

In all seriousness, it depends on the car and if it can safely handle that speed. Then you have to worry about other drivers. I’d be comfortable with my car doing this eapeeds, but, would worry with other drivers around.

I've been on TD since about 08-09. Just wanted to change my username. I created my account to bitch about Miles on the rant. Never really considered posting on the OT at the time

Yes because people drive at the speed they want regardless of what’s on a sign.

so it wouldn’t be much different than it is now.
