As a guy that's been successfully married for over 26 years, this made me laugh.
She asks you to go to NOLA to spend the night with her in a hotel you're not paying for, and have lunch with her tomorrow...on her birthday...and you're mad at her?
Congrats on being a lifetime bachelor.
This. I’d totally go with my husband just to have an adventure.

My s/o volunteered herself to be in Nola today to work for a client of hers. This certain task is completely outside the scope of her normal job and the first time she's ever done anything like this. The client paid for a hotel for us tonight

I just started a new job and she knows this, but has asked me to drive 3.5 hrs tonight to meet her. I don't want to bail early so, this puts me there at around 9:30-10pm. She doesn't want to go out bc she has to do the job again tomorrow until noon, so I will get there and go to sleep. Tomorrow, she will be working until noon then wants to get lunch and drive straight back home.
Your S/O knows you will not come in. She is going to get railed by her boss all night long.
After, they will lie in bed laughing at how you fell for it.
The Miller's Tale, by Geoffrey Chaucer, is a similar story. Had you read it you never would have fallen for this.
BTW, it is the funniest thing I've ever read, and I recommend it to everyone - not just the cuckold.

So she wants to go to someone else's pool party on her own birthday?
Is dragging me there so she doesnt have to be alone, knowing we are leaving immediately after lunch to make it back to something else she wants to do.

Yea....that's the most irrational fricking idea I've heard in awhile.... clearly thought up by a woman...while dating, probably would have done it...now that I'm married prob would have told her how stupid that is

I offered to get tickets for a show tonight, hotel room tomorrow, and told her to pick something she wanted to do for her bday tomorrow night in a feeble attempt to make the trip worth it.
Shut down on all accounts.

Because you made a huge deal out of it initially so now she’s now punishing you by being stubborn. It’s not logical, but I guarantee she would have been game had you not acted an arse the first time.

just download a good podcast/audio book and make the drive
I don't mind driving, so this scenario, while unreasonable, wouldn't really bother me that much

You’re complaining about hotel birthday sex?

It's really not the drive. Its the fact that she wants me there to literally eat lunch then drive back home. I wasn't annoyed until she flat out refused to do anything when I get there tonight and refused to stay tomorrow so she could be back for a pool party

Dude run as far away as u can. It will only get worse every year you are with her.

My wife hates doing anything by herself, so I feel you 100% right now.
My only advice, since you know that you are going anyways, is to just go with it, or this will be a miserable weekend for you.
Don't be a passive aggressive bitch about it.

Yes, it’s ridiculous for her to ask you to do that.
You are a lady and agreeing?

Boy, you’re stupid. She’s asking you to join her for some dirty, nasty hotel sex. Geez.

This unfortunately. Be miserable with her or miserable without her while some dude is plowing her

Did she refuse the tickets and stuff before or after you told her you didn’t want to go? If you offered to make it a weekend first and she said no to that, and the got upset you didn’t want to drive 7 hours for lunch, yeah that’s ridiculous. But if you just initially said how dumb it was, then she got upset, the. You tried to make it right but she refused, well…
Chronological details will be important.

Sound advice and is what I've accepted. I have a decent morning planned, but since she wants to drive back right after lunch I won't be able to sit around and drink while shes working like many have suggested. Maybe I'll accidentally over do it and be forced to get the hotel for tomorrow anyway

Can you fly in and Uber? That way at least you can drive home together.
