It will never get decriminalized in the south because marijuana is against Jesus and next thing you know, we'll all be worshipin' the devil. Roll damn Tide, Pawl.

The New Orleans city council is voting on a city ordinance on St. Patty's day to decriminalize. Based on the previous votes as it has gone through the process, it will pass with little to no opposition. The tidal wave is coming no doubt - it just may take a few years to still get here.

Even a little bit high is too high for work, unless your boss says differently.

We need a test similar to blood/alcohol level. Because right now it's just "has this person smoked in the last 6 months? Pass/fail"

No, it isn't. They have similar testing methods already.

I think weed is closer to alcohol than cigarettes.

Eventually most employers won't care, as long as you aren't high on the job, and it doesn't affect your performance.

I've never met an employer that keeps their employees from drinking outside of work. Would never work for a company that would mandate such a thing.

Even if drugs get legalized, there will always be the problem of the stigmas attached to their use. Every time I try to get my morning fix of smack in the break room at work, I know everyone is judging.

I love that this jerkoff got a medical marijuana Rx for chronic neck pain. I mean, come on.

The only other surprise was that someone like him actually wanted to hold down a job.

I don't know if it's been mentioned, but can you drink on the job?

I used to work for a company that allowed 2 beers on the afternoon break.

The old timers usually grabbed 2 tall boys.

Pretty sure federal law limits the test to 3 months (hair follicle) it can show as far back as your hair is long. 1/2 of hair is roughly 1 month of growth

I think it should depend on the job and what all they already allow.

For example, if you work a job that is fine with you taking back pills or some other kind of painkiller you should be able to do the same with medicinal pot so long as you have a license. I don't think some people realize that a person who legitimately needs it to cope with something like cancer isn't really getting fricked up so much as they are just stopping the pain enough to be able to function like a normal person. To me it's no different than when I had shingles and needed high doses of shite like vicoden just to handle the pain.

HOWEVER, if you don't have a legit medical reason I see no problem with a boss saying you can't blaze up at work.

Also, if your job involves working with heavy machinery or driving a vehicle of some sort, I'd be more apt to agree that you shouldn't be using on the job. Of course, I would hope that employer would enforce the same rules for pills.

Whoever develops a drug test that can distinguish between THC currently in the bloodstream and THC that was ingested a week ago will become insanely rich.

No - because it is an impairing drug. Alcohol is legal, but most companies don't allow you to be legally drunk on the job.

Any drug taken in excess is an impairing drug. Who is to say whether or not someone could adequately perform their job-related duties after just one hit?

Construction workers in Jamaica will puff a joint during their lunch breaks rather than grab coffee.

I don't see how. I know of businesses that don't allow cigarettes so I don't think they'll have an issue banning weed.

They can already determine amount of active THC in a person.

Me. I can say that if you are smoking grass you can't do your job as well as if you aren't smoking grass. You can't be serious.
