South San Francisco, Industrial City. Rental SUV back glass shattered by thieves with the ceramic of a spark plug to create little sound at 5pm daylight, parking lot of a restaurant. Detectives said we were easy marks because we wore sport coats and probably had laptops on business. Worst nice shite hole I've ever been to.

Had to drive down to the courthouse in Cleburne, TX on a Tuesday after a post Memorial Day Monday.
My roommate, and co-worker, got arrested and jailed for DWI, coming back from canoeing on the Brazos River. He was stopped the Sat. before a Memorial Day Monday. He called me to come bail him out. I talked to the Sheriff's dept. and was told I couldn't get him out until Tuesday because they wouldn't be having court until then.
My boss didn't understand why I didn't get him out over the weekend, so he made me go get him. He had a black eye when we picked him up. He sad the cops did it putting him in their car. They had told him it would be better to use one of the Cleburne attorneys, instead of a Dallas one.
This was in the 80's. Back then, Cleburne was known for two things, their 1912 constructed courthouse & cops that ran things the same way they did in 1912. They stopped us one time on the way down for no reason and wanted to search the car. If you didn't have anything to worry about, you didn't argue with them.
