Nashville ~ BNA may be one of the best airports in the US. It isn't too far from downtown Nashville and it's extremely clean, efficient, quick. They have a nice assortment of restaurants, shops and bars too if you are stuck with a long layover.

Munich in '93. The Eastern block was fading but all the vestiges were there- Soldiers with machine guns tapping on the van windows for us to show our passports at airport arrival, vending machines that were all grey with black tape letters spelling out "Coke" and Pepsi. No color, everything and everyone so drab and depressing.

You are confused. Munich has never been part of East Germany or the old communist bloc. The airport might be bad, but not for that reason.

San Fran is worse than what you would expect for a major international airport.

It's the wind in Wyoming. Once at Casper the wind was so strong they literally couldn't open the plane door for about five or more minutes after arriving at the gate.

My worst - Vegas. 60s gangster decor, really expensive (even by airport standards) and shitty food, and employees in food areas were rude and obnoxious. Pulled in to this sports themed restaurant and the guy working behind the counter was dropping F bombs every 6th word.

Best - Seattle

I am indifferent to flying but I really love airports. I don't know why. It is always just a fun experience for me. I have flown often both personally and for work and I've been to quite a few airports in the US. I haven't been to any that I didn't like, although I prefer larger ones. I like DFW, ATL and Cincy the best.

Never really had any issues with IAH..then again my layovers have always been rather short so I've been in and out. LFT is the shite like one other poster said..BTR has a smoking lounge which is always nice

I'd be miserable too if I lived in Vegas

ETA: also throw San Diego on that list..the TSA agents there can go suck on a rod

Nairobi

Had my carryon searched with a gun pointed at me by security. And then watched as they basically took off the nose of the plane we were to board to do hours worth of repairs. It was late at night so there was nothing open to get anything to eat or drink while we were delayed.

it took ten pages to correct this goofball about munich, but i'm glad somebody did. forget the old DDR, frankfurt is the crappiest airport in germany that i've travailed through.

IMHO, the southwest terminals at hobby before the renovations were complete shite. o'hare is always funky, dirty, and crowded. and terminal 2 at sky harbor in phoenix is a total shithole.

I will agree with this. No bars that I know of by the gates. Paradise Bakery is ok food wise.

The layout of Kansas City's airport has some real advantages since it isn't a hub. Passing through security tends to be a lot faster with a decentralized system. Compared to STL (a centralized system) it was tons faster to get through and especially faster since 911 slowed down security checkpoints even more.

Sorry, there have been a bunch of stupid people saying that Detroit sucks including the airport. If Detroit is the worst airport you've visited, I'm guessing you just walked in and out of it. It's a shite hole city with a great airport. I've never heard someone who has actually visited the airport diss it, but plenty of morons who just assume it sucks.

There are a few ATMs before you reach the security gates right after you leave the ticket counters actually.

Course doesn't help you if you are on a layover.(didn't even realize there were none by the gates)

Terminal 4 is the nicer terminal at sky harbor
