The "Out of Africa" theory has been taking huge shots that poke holes in it the past several years.

This has no impact on that theory, with the earliest estimates of human ancestors leaving Africa being around 2 million years ago.

30k years is a blink in that timespan. It's huge compared to humans in a societal setting (12k years or so), but not the totality of humanoid migration.

Yeah, so it's not writing. It can't just be symbols that communicate an idea. It has to be part of a system that is repeatable and understood by a community.

Cuneiform is the oldest writing we've found. It's not in Africa.

He's just the histrionic type using Caps on X. He didn't do the study.

I do agree with this, though.

No, a new hominid fossil discovery in Europe casts doubt on that.

There isn't a "TLDR" portion at the bottom of it so I have my doubts.

If it's older, it hurts his argument even more, so that's fine with me.

Seasons.

Those that were smart enough to plan survived. Those that did not plan, died off.

Cool, but I don’t know that I call that writing. That looks more like counting if anything (assuming it’s not just decorative), and I don’t know that we could call tick marks writing.
My first thought, and there's this in the article:

indicate early symbolic abstraction for information storage but fall short of encoding full language per archaeological consensus.

There has been hundreds of other ancient civilizations over the millions of millions of years. Stuff that we will never find.
