Workplace - Why are we so against napping?

Scientific studies have shown that a quick 30-minute nap is much better than a cup of coffee, energy drink, or soft drink. It revitalizes the brain and lets you work more efficiently.
Some work places (Google, FaceBook) have installed napping pods at the workplace. Why aren't others taking on this service?
What are your thoughts on it?

Because in my napping experience, a 30 minute nap turns into 2 hours.

Yeah I can’t nap, they turn into sleeps.

Don't know if anyone has seen Corporate on Comedy Central. But the guy that has to have 20 minutes of sleep/silence in his car, in the middle of the work day, describes me perfectly. I'll eat lunch at my desk, then go to the car. Always only 20-30 minutes though.

Employers are probably worried people would abuse it.

Yes. I definitely see the "give an employee an inch and watch him take a foot" policy being taken with a 30 minute nap privilege.

For a second there I thought your OP said "Workplace - Why are we so against fapping" and I was going to agree with you. But napping at work? That's just ridiculous.

my employer lets me sleep on the job.

If I could figure out how to fall asleep at will, I would take a 30 minute nap during lunch every day. But even when I am really tired, it's hard to fall asleep immediately

Most people in the office work a maximum of 8 hours a day. If you need a nap during a standard 8-hour work day, you're just lazy.

Naps are great. Only fools aren't napping.

I planned on taking a 30 minute nap Saturday afternoon. I slept for 2.5 hrs

I'll usually get a 30 minute nap about twice/week in my office (locked door) on the days that I bring a sandwich from home for lunch. I can feel the improvement on my brain, back, and eyes on those afternoons.

There were napping pods at a place where I programmed. After lunch. Premier.

Take a nap everyday at lunch. Feels great. Only downfall is when I have to work threw lunch I get pissed off in the afternoon that I didn't have my nap and that I am overly tired.

Before a nap, I'm tired and a little cranky. After a nap, I'm the chupacabra. And I'm still tired.

If it were you're company would you want to pay people to take naps?
