There’s a big psychological adjustment period at retirement. Men struggle with it more than women and the ones that don’t adjust go back to work or die very young.

I was forced early into retirement at age 57 due to disability and have been so for 2.5 years. Was considering doing Staff work at LSU games but haven’t done it yet and now with Rona have put on the back burner. Was a plant Baw for 40 years. Don’t miss it one bit. Done my time. I enjoy exercising at the local Y, fishing on occasion and motorcycle riding. You just have to learn how to slow down. Enjoy sitting outside Starbucks with a cold coffee and watching the working people drive by. Don’t stay working one day longer than you have to. One key to retirement is doing it debt free. Equally as important as a huge nest egg. Daily living is not real expensive once you are debt free.

I’ll have to make that decision in 8-13 years. I know I’ll have to be involved in something because I don’t do well with a lack of structure or goals.

Been retired for 7 years. Never regretted it. When I'm sitting on the sofa on a weekday morning drinking my coffee and listening to the driving rainstorm outside I just chuckle. I didn't retire to go back to work. Some days I am really busy and some days I don't do shite.

I’ve been retired 2 years and really enjoy it. I have rental property that requires some time. The main thing I enjoy now is self directing my retirement account.

My dad is still working in his 80s because he would lose his fricking mind otherwise.

I don't get this at all but good for him. I always have plenty on my mind to keep me busy. I'm always thinking about trips whether it be a fishing trip to the river, an offshore trip, a trip with my kids, or just a trip to the hardware store. I get enjoyment out of working, but I don't need an expensive life style to be happy.
The things I look forward to doing most are going somewhere and not worrying about the time or date when I have to return.

I have been retired for 3 years now, my husband retired 10 years. It has been hard on him having me home and not alone to do as he pleases! 
I do miss my paycheck, but have adjusted to living with lighter spending! I have hobbies, service, enjoying friendships, and doing just nothing if I choose!

I am in year 4 of retirement. Best thing ever! I hunt and fish on weekdays and let the crowd have the weekends. Have not missed working. Not. One. Day!

I have worked since I was a young kid. I got my education and became a teacher/coach/administrator. I was in education for 33 1/2 years. I worked lots of nights, holidays and summers during that time. I retired in 2016.
I stay real busy with yardwork, grandkids, fishing, some travel and just relaxing. I miss some of my coworkers but no way do I want to go back!

I'm 26 and ready to retire today. Oh well only 50 more years to go!

Yes you will . As you get older it goes quicker . Years 10-23 have flown by . Keep plugging

I enjoy my job. Plan on going half time by the time Im 60 and maybe one week a month by 65

I'm 52 and I plan on working until at least 70, maybe a few years beyond. I enjoy working and would have to transition into some kind of scheduled work or volunteer activity, perhaps on a part time basis. My wife, however, would retire today if she could and will be all over me to retire the second she does.
