Wife's water broke early this morning
She is 34.5 weeks
Our first baby
She's having very strong contractions about 4 min apart
2cm dilated
The doctor is worried about his lung development at this stage
Epidural just given
I'm sitting in the waiting room, a nervous wreck....watching the Saints
UPDATE:
Baby spent 8 days in NICU
He came home Tuesday night and is doing well
I am already feeling the effects of little sleep
Thanks OT for sharing your experiences and for your prayers

Several of my cousins and myself were all born right around then when they had shittier medical knowledge and technology than we have now. We're all full-grown adults now with no issues whatsoever.

You’re lucky, I’m not able to watch the Saints right now

You baby should be fine as survival rates at 34 weeks are ~98%. Might have a little trouble breathing or feeding, but will be ok.

34.5 week's isn't all that short. Try to relax and congrats.

They said she needed to rest
Been here since 3:45am
I stepped out to take a break from that room
Nurse is guessing she'll deliver naturally late tonight to early tomorrow

My nephew was a good bit earlier than that. He is a really sharp 26 year old now. Good luck!

34 weeks is fine. Worst case they’ll put the baby in one of those things to keep them warm and let them develop. Have faith. Congratulations
