BTW if you want to work on your opening strategy you can open the site in an incognito browser that lets you replay the day's word.
I got lucky today and got a top 1000 as my tenth guess. My next four were top 100 then guess 15 was a 2.85...WTF? It took me another 31 guesses to get it right but I learned something. My 13th guess used the same root word and it wasn't nearly as close as I would have thought a word with the same root would have been. Then out of sheer frustration, I played the antonym with the same root and it was 997/1000 and then I got it.
Fun game and I admit the first couple of days I was flailing but began to develop a methodical opening once I started to understand the system.
I got lucky today and got a top 1000 as my tenth guess. My next four were top 100 then guess 15 was a 2.85...WTF? It took me another 31 guesses to get it right but I learned something. My 13th guess used the same root word and it wasn't nearly as close as I would have thought a word with the same root would have been. I lucked up and guessed #992 on my 20th guess. I've hit all the similar words around it and got in the 980s and 990s, but can't figure out the hidden word yet.
ETA: and just as i say that, i did #997 and got the hidden word based on that. It's odd to me that the similarity score is only 58.71 for that. You'd think all those words are very similar based on the algorithm, especially in more recent times.

Yesterday was BS to me because the word was basically opposite of all the top words I had

Took me 55 today. BTW did anyone guess WOKE yesterday at some point?
What killed me today is from about guess 20 on I kept thinking about using what ultimately was 991/1000 but kept trying to be "smarter" than that but got it the next guess when I finally put it in on guess 54.

I started guessing words like patriarchy and heteronormativity for kicks - and was getting quite close.
