Trend I've noticed the past month or two....any reason for it? Specifically purple, is it a shout out to that star wars carpet muncher?

I walked a woman out of the office today who has a purple streak in her hair. She started showing her crazy about a week after she was hired. I blame myself for hiring her in the 1st place.
