re: Women playing the single mother card

I don't hangout with too many single mothers out there that don't already have their shite together, so, I never see it. However, it does annoy the crap out of me when they automatically assume guys cannot handle the kids on our own.

I know a woman who posted a big "woe is me" story on Facebook about how she and her husband were divorcing, how hard it was, and how things just didn't work out. The truth is that she got caught having an affair that had been going on for months, but that wasn't public info. She got a ton of sympathy and it was her own fault

I know for a fact that several of them were responsible. One even left her overweight husband for a younger, more energetic man as she put it. I also know very few single guys that have brought child support payments onto themselves.

I guess I look at it as single mom means she's single and has at least one kid. To me, the phrase single mom gives no implication whether or not she raises kid(s) on her own, or if the father(s) are very much in the kid(s) lives or not and if he helps financially and with upbringing/custody.

This is a "card" now?

I'm a single dad. Does anyone give a shite? No, just like they shouldn't give a shite about a single mom.
