I think women that assign that much value to sex have a subconscious fear that they bring nothing else to the table and that the guy will no longer desire her once she gives it up, so they withhold.

I knew 3 women sort of like this.All 3 are hyper intelligent,but only in their career fields .They knew nothing of the world around them,barely could drive a car.They put their twats upon pedestals too. OK, I finally actually read the Huffpost article, and she eventually realized (from therapy) that she was the problem. But when she broke her bad habits and found an available partner, the buildup to the first time they had sex was still ridiculous and fraught with too-high expectations. For him to put up with her, I think she found the right guy.
