Assuming this is true I feel bad for her that her parents reacted in this way. Also, barring that this dude isn't some disrespecting thug I'd have to say the parents are making a huge mistake.

I didn't say that. I didn't like my parents' rules, so we went our separate ways for a while. I wasn't going to obey the rules just to take their money. I made a choice and knew the consequences. Therefore I got a job and busted my arse. And that's ok.
