The local paper down in Hilton Head probably has a reporter who just covers local crime. Or maybe a local cop told her about it because it was crazy.
She writes the story.
However, the paper is owned by a nation-wide corporation that owns many papers. As a result, the story is re-printed in those various papers.
Then, these national websites find it and run with it.

this is the scary thing about this country. Why do they have to post photo, adress, and everything when you get arrested? its dangerous. Some people do harmless things( get naked trip on drugs) and police ruin your life , cant get a job. ive been arrested.

Prisoner records have been public record online forever.
It is scary how quickly it goes national now, but local crime blotters have always been around. It used to be only locals in Hilton Head knew that this woman was being an a-hole. Now, the entire country knows within 5 days.
