Weren’t you just saying in the Seattle thread that nothing like the protests in Seattle has happened in New Orleans? Now a person is shot in broad day light and protesters were surrounding the police car trying to get through and now you’re looking for people to go run over. Just sayin man....

What time are the protests over this shooting?

It would appear the protests over this shooting have started as the police are now surrounded by protestors.

Update however as @NOPDNews has issued some seemingly contradictory statements about the shooting today.

@NOPDNews has issued several statements: "The shooting occurred at the back of the protest inside of Duncan Plaza. It is unknown at this time if the people involved in the incident were attending the protests, but investigators believe this incident is not protest related."

"Investigators also believe the victim and perpetrator may be acquainted. The incident caused many of the protesters to walk in the street and blocked police cruisers who were interviewing witnesses from leaving the scene.
The witnesses were later released."

"The victim is currently in stable condition.

This is an ongoing investigation and no further information is available at this time."

NOLA.com Ramon Antonio Vargas wrote that the "NOPD updates shooting at Duncan Plaza: Victim, shooter may know each other and may have been at a nearby rally at some point, but investigators do NOT believe the shooting erupted because of the rally."

Fear not however as the Protestors are now conducting a "Moment of Silence" for the victim of the shooting.

that shite happens everyday...12 times out of 10 its black on black crime or a drug deal gone bad or some sort of retaliation.

now you’re looking for people to go run over.

the last thing I want to do is run anyone over...I hope to God I'm never put in that situation. However, If I feel that my life or my family is in danger I will do what I have to do

What a waste of human energy. Now extrapolate that waste of human energy throughout the entire population protesting, what a bunch of worthless sons of birches. Country is fricked. Bunch of dumb motherfrickers.

It's 2 p.m. on a Thursday. These people need to get a damn job.

Why they are getting an extra $600/month in welfare due to COVID-19 and possibly a 2nd stimulus check.

Here is the actual answer to your question

First watch this video Video: "Rally attendees are pushing to the police car leaving after the incident and shouting "No Justice, No Peace!"

Then follow the Twitter Account of this woman Leslie Molson Twitter

"Right now people are just surrounding the car with raised hands in solidarity. And now the police are letting the woman they arrested for a fight out of the car!!"

"To recap, a woman was detained across from Duncan Plaza for something minor during a rally, and the crowd surrounded the police car until they let her go!"

"Now the crowd blocked the press from filming the woman and her friends trying to get in their car and leave."

"The crowd is also blocking the press from filming THEM, for obvious reasons. Everyone behaved spectacularly.

Obviously the woman they attempted to arrest didn't do anything, otherwise why did they let her go?"

And here is the NOPD's response to Leslie Molson's account of what took place.

One of the new demands from the Protestors is this

This is the first time I have heard the protestors demanding this to their list of demands. The S&WB can't function correctly but yet you want the City to build you a release so you can get a tan.

There are 8 demands:
1) defund police
2) demilitarize communities
3) remove police from schools
4) free people from jails
5) repeal laws that criminalize survival
6) invest in community self governance
7) provide safe housing
8) invest in care, not cops

Back in the day the NOPD used to disperse a crowd like that with little effort - find the biggest loud mouth and crack his skull with everyone watching.

NOPD can handle a raucous Mardi Gras of tens of thousands then turn around and allow themselves to be overcome by a couple of hundred white folks at 2:00pm on a Thursday?

It's absolutely mind blowing that anyone living in New Orleans would want to defund the police.

It's a miniscule number of people in New Orleans that "want" this. Likely nobody who has lived here for more than 5 years.

Who the hell knew there were still "protests" going on, though?
