But...but... they're more scared of you than you are of them! Everybody made fun of me when I said a large gator chased me in my kayak.

The article said one of the dogs had been bitten. I bet the gator had the dog and she was killed freeing the dog. Gators rarely go after adult size prey unless that adult is in the water. Probably got her by the arm, started the death roll and ripped it off. Should have let it have the dog.

For the gator that would be like you going to Chili's and having your entree attack you for eating your appetizer.

This almost happened to a Chinese grad student chick from LSU RNR maybe 10 years ago. She only had her arm bitten off IIRC. Was doing research in Bayou Sauvage, reached under a pier for something, and chomp!

She barely spoke English at all, so it was a pretty crappy deal all around

The state said among local deaths by alligators, a 36-year-old man died while swimming across a pond in November 2007 in west Miami. An alligator “seized and drowned” him in the water at the Miccosukee Indian reservation.

Witnesses reported the man disappeared while trying to elude police. Divers found his body at the bottom of the pond, and two gators — one 9 feet, 4 inches long, the other 7 feet, 6 inches long — were removed from the pond.

Damn dude was having a bad day.

Had way to close of a call with my step daughter yesterday. We were swimming at the point in Lake Verret where they have lake bash at and I stepped away from her for 2 minutes and thankfully my dad was keeping a close eye out because a 5 footer popped up as soon as I walked away from her and was just watching her and my dog play. Never seen that happen before

Uh oh

Human arm found inside gator

"The alligator is still being investigated..."

What if its a sovereign gator? "am I being detained? You have no right to go into my stomach and remove that arm. I'm merely traveling through the pond not driving. Have you ever heard of article 4?"

Don't let the dog around where you're swimming if gators are present. They're interested in the dog, not your kid.

Yeah. One chased me and wife in south carolina. I was rowing. When you are not in shape rowing is real exercise. .tricky judging how hard to work vis a vis the rapidly closing distance of gator to you and distance to shore, figuring you better land 30 seconds before gator and you better have something left 30 seconds before you hit land.

It just occurred to me that the gator has not finished eating her. The body is stashed in gator cave. The dog and one arm was enough for one meal.
