That's what I'm getting at. There's already a gun-ban in place for when a person does something on top of just having an order against them. Why aren't more jurisdictions looking at these cases and telling the offender,
"You have an order against you. You've been arrested for domestic violence already. You can wear this GPS device while the victim has a smartphone app/physical device at home. And you're paying for it. Or .... you can sit in jail for 90 days."

Madam that's exactly what I was starting the thread for. If Third Leg don't like GPS, then suggest SOMETHING. ANYTHING. But he won't. He's just a dick anyhow and wanted to argue with us. But right now on any day in any city, there's a man or woman who has every intention of killing their significant other if given the opportunity, regardless of consequence. Something needs to change.

They can't. But anger management problems are identifiable and I think that this is a less specific problem than simply trying to figure out who will turn into a murder. I think that women who put up with any abuse are potential victims of much greater abuse. Men who commit any amount of physical abuse have the potential to commit much greater abuse. Any man who has ever hit or otherwise physically attacked his wife (choked, pushed, tackled, held down, etc) and is whining about how his divorce turned out, not only caused it to happen, but also deserved exactly what he got.

The company I work for had a proposal for a court district in LA to monitor persons on court ordered RO. It's not just a matter of monitoring where the offender is located. We have the technology to geo fence the victims home, work and kids school. If the offender broke the geo fence we would alert the victim and LEO. The intent is to alert the victim and give LEO a quicker response time before an incident occurs. The court didn't want to pay for the service.

A woman's first stop on her way to get a restraining order should be the gun store. Would have ended differently if he had taken a bat to a gun fight.

Can this be pushed for again? Maybe use the most recent tragedies in Ascension Parish to make changes and get this shite pushed through.
It pisses me off to see all the acquiescence to pressure for body cameras(Walker most recently) b/c of bad cops but nothing but restraining orders for women(most times).

I googled this stuff last year when Ronald Green killed his wife and son(Ronald Green Jr. I can't even fathom this).
The technology is there. Fencing, improved alert and response times, etc.
I just firmly believe that this would happen far less if gps systems are put in place WHEN WARRANTED*, combined with the victim owning a gun and knowing how to use it properly.
End of motherfrickin story unless it's proven to not work.
Work out the privacy and fairness of it later. Stop letting these women be sitting ducks.

It's not Rocket Science and it's not that expensive in the grand scheme of things. We shut down our project for lack of interest.

True but most don't integrate back into LEO dispatching and communication systems which ours would. We could alert LEO within seconds of the offender violating the fence and send the closest officer to the position of the offender.
