Didn’t WBRZ predict that we wouldn’t get anything at all?

Downplayed it too strong when the NWS and every model was on board. I know we bust a lot on snow predictions down here, but this was the set up you want (clearly) and they had model support + NWS thinking snow.

Baton Rouge is basically done with the snow looks like. There's a some light stuff flowing out of the gulf toward us that could add a bit on top, but the heavy stuff is all east now.

Like most predicted, people are already driving like idiots, only gonna get worse when the temp goes below freezing.

People are driving like it’s a normal summer day

Going to be a shitshow tonight for those folks who got their finals moved from this morning to tonight. College students, strung out on amphetamines + black ice. What could go wrong?

This is my concern for tonight. Everything I see online looks like the temp is going to be below freezing starting around midnight until 8am. With all the wet roads it is not going to be a fun morning driving tomorrow

just getting inside, entire neighborhood of kids and adults have been out playing since 6. No power, but praying it comes back by dark.

6 inches of snow off hoo shoo too and it's still coming down. Built multiple epic snowmen because amazingly, the snow was perfect powder and not nasty wet. The fun has exceeded my expectations and watching the kids (and moreso, the parents) light up with joy has been so awesome. I actually think the adults were more excited because we truly understand how rare this is

Final verdict: way better than 2008 snow! But I will hate this if my power won't come on by dark, lol.

We were without power from 7:15-12. Probably back on up there soon.

We'll hit freezing pretty quickly once the sun goes down. I wouldn't expect us to break 35 today with all the snow on the ground. We'll likely hit freezing by 6 or 7.

Does it look like the trend of it lessening will continue to the northshore for the rest of the day?

We have a function in Metairie this evening and are in a holding pattern trying to decide whether to go or not.
Appreciate it.

It looks like temps are rising to 35-36 behind the precip in Acadiana. Hope would be that anything on a paved surface would melt and evaporate before it cools back down. There's probably a 4 hour window?

Dew point holding steady at 32, won't get much evaporation off that.

Problem is there's a good 4" of melt that needs to happen and will run off into the streets. And there's still a lil bit more snow to roll through here. I mean it's not going to be very heavy or long lasting but puts us back farther.

Ice is going to be an issue tonight and more so the longer the snow lasts for a specific area.

The snow is going to decrease in rate and eventually end going west to east throughout the afternoon. The farther you are to the east, the later the snow ends and the more ice on roads is a direct concern.

So it would be a bad idea to drive from Houston to Baton Rouge tonight?

Another steady snow shower for 5ish minutes again, then back to rain. :sigh:

I wouldn't unless you have no choice. There's a lot of bridges between there and here. The interstates should be ok for the most part, but you have to go over the basin bridge and the old/new bridge that is likely to be icy by the time you'd get here.
