Why do that when we can fill the soap dispensers on street cleaners with salt?!?

Of course! Big O bought a salt mine and a dump truck to make sure it stayed accessible.

They just showed a hotel impossible episode in Juneau. The Alaskan Hotel and Bar.
Bar manager got canned for being a dick. You know him?
Yeah, I knew him. They shot that back in the fall. The Alaskan was an awesome local watering hole and was fairly well known all over. Esquire named it one of the best back in 2008. LINK
Locals hated the idea of changing it. There's enough catering to tourists, they wanted something to remain for them, in the downtown area. Don't blame the former empoloyees for walking. I think only two stayed after the episode was filmed.
It was better known for the bear that walked into the lobby last summer.

Most cities don't add chemicals. It's more expensive...
There are many road salts... The overwhelming majority is justsodium chloride. Minneapolis... Detroit... Shut the frick up

wunderground extended is just calling it freezing rain now, it was snow yesterday, then wintry mix until 12am.
Now just freezing rain, no one knows what's going to happen.

wunderground said no precip all day Friday

First off, no.
And don't get mad because you think you can just dump table salt everywhere. There are chemicals that are added to prevent clumping in machines. Know why? Because when salt is exposed to moisture (which is common outside) it tends to stick together and clog hoppers. Also, NaCl alone can only drop freezing temps so far on it's own (ex. frozen oceans)
Unrustle your jimmies

Yea I've been just looking at radars and judging forecast wording rather than models, and it's been everything from maybe some ice to a blizzard, back down to ice/rain/snow mix.
I Remember in 2008 they weren't saying shite, just a possible chance of snow, and I filmed that morning at 7am, it was crazy how much snow was coming down at one point.
