Just noticed this on Wunderground mobile while checking the surrounding area's forecasts. Looks like the Gonzales portion is updated before Baton Rouge. Looks like they're starting to think we don't get above freezing on Wednesday, either. This would support the GFS model that was posted late last night saying this as well.

They're now discussing the possibility of being closed on Thursday. BR isn't messing around.

All I want to know is do we think LSU is gonna close tomorrow? I'm flying back today but not sure if it's worth it

Meeting now. Announcement at 2.

They will most definitely close tomorrow. I think this meeting has more to do with if they should close Wednesday as well and how they are going to get those days back.

I don't think they would take away Mardi Gras break.. Probably have a couple of Saturday school days.

ut from what i know there's no way temps rise a lot on tues or wed... even after the storm.. and if there's snow on the ground it will rise even less.

Correct. The threshold is around 40 degrees if I remember correctly. The visual I like to use is if you've ever dumped an ice chest full of ice after a hunting or fishing trip and it's cold outside. It takes a long time for ice to melt and if the roads are closed, it takes several hours of above 40 degree weather to really get a good melt going.

There it is

However, they updated the watch to a warning but it seems as though it says it's going to be a little less severe than they originally thought.

Does this mean that they'll update the forecast soon as well? They updated the watch to a warning - are they working on the forecast right now also?

Thanks. It's not that basic because it also includes criteria like ground temps, air temps, and cloud cover, but generally if we get above 40, the snow will slowly begin to melt. Mid- 30's will keep everything frozen for the most part.
