According to the off topic board on the sec rant, Birmingham is a cluster... Schools are dismissing but the busses cannot run in some areas due to road conditions.

Same thing that happened in La last week. One school system had some busses get stuck up on a bridge for a while.

Right. It might have caused hardship for some parents to have their kids home today but at least they aren't facing the mess that is early school let out in Birmingham and Atlanta.

It is closed further west but if it's dry air causing it I assume it will open back up, but I am not a pro.

That would have been St. James parish. Luckily I got out of there when I did.

This is precisely why we're all home today, regardless of the outcome. This is what we try to avoid.

what baton rouge has right now I think is pretty much it, just looking at the radar everything to the northwest is dying as it moves southeast into that dry slot

things will have to change dramatically for anything else

do a better job defining where in baton rouge shouldn't get anything. Because I am close to Baton Rouge in Denham and getting frozen precp. for the last couple of hours

Local Birmingham weather guy has admitted on Air that they blew the forecast which left many unprepared. Bham has been declared a civil disaster area - whatever that means. I guess it is do that emergency services can do whatever they need to help without any red tape. At least the guy admitted his misjudgment.

Odd that that article says all flights into and out of MSY are cancelled. Just got off the phone with United and they claim everything is still on schedule
