When is the last time you did this? Because its not so simple anymore.

Honestly, I've never done it. I was just looking to score a few brownie points with the OT and seem like I'm in the Know. Just a friendly Friday morning troll really...but I had good intentions hoping my shite would stick to the wall and others would agree or Kige This.

I got 5% all around plus almost half of my front windshield has a 5% strip… I go get a inspection sticker by rolling both my front windows down, and then unplugging the master door window switch which will not allow any of the other windows to go up or down… when I go get a inspection sticker I just tell them my window motors are out and it makes it where they can’t check them.. it’s kind of a gray area, legally you don’t have to have front door windows, so if they can’t check they can’t fail you, most they can do is tell you to come back when they can be rolled up… most of the time they don’t even car about the front windshield

I got this from a website

“Tint darkness for sedans: Windshield: Non-reflective tint is allowed above the manufacturer's AS-1 line or top 5 inches. Front Side windows: Must allow more than 40% of light in. Back Side windows: Must allow more than 25% of light in. Rear Window: Must allow more than 12% of light in.

Tint darkness for SUV and vans: Windshield: Non-reflective tint is allowed above the manufacturer's AS-1 line or top 5 inches. Front Side windows: Must allow more than 40% of light in. Back Side windows: Any darkness can be used. Rear Window: Any darkness can be used.”

It doesnt work like this anymore. now there's a form you have to get from the dmv, get it filled out by the doc, has to have a coded medical condition, not just "light sensitivity" and a reason you cant wear sunglasses, and then has to be approved by the dmv, but they dont approve very many of them anymore. Basically state police is cracking down on it because they dont like walking up to dark vehicles.

When did you have that done? I doubt any doctor would give a waiver for window tint.

They'll write you a waiver

LSP cracked down hard on tint exemptions a few years back and they’re nearly impossible to get now. Additionally, between the background checks, fingerprints and the fee for the exemption it was $500-$600 all said and done if I remember correctly. When I lived in LA, I had the orange tag exemption and let it expire due to the above costs. Got 1 ticket after expiration and it was maybe $100. Way less than the exemption cost.

Simply go to an optometrist and let them know you are having trouble driving at high noon and early afternoon when the sun is glaring down. They'll write you a waiver that you then get endorsed on your DL and a document for your glove box. At that point, you'll be clear to have limo tint on any and all windows both if you get stopped by 5-O for speeding or annual inspection.

God dammit. You tell me this as I’m sitting in the tint shop NOW!!!!

Thanks, buddy. I am somewhat confused. The inspection guys did explain correctly and by this morning, I had it backwards. My windows don't look that dark and I see much darker windows all over the place. I get a kick out of the guys that think I'm a cop. I figured these guys would show up. I hope I'm never so bored that I would do this for entertainment.

Also if you are doing it for heat rejection the best tints out there reject the same amount of heat regardless of how light or dark.

Yep. The good ceramic tints block heat no matter the percent tint

Scrape the expired inspection sticker off and take your chances. It’s easier to spot an expired sticker than it is to spot a vehicle with out that is registered in Louisiana. Most other states don’t have this hustle.

Motor vehicle inspection sticker fees are just tax hustles on the working man in Louisiana.

Our emissions problems come from chemical plants, not 2019 Ford F150’s.

If you are stopped, be honest and immediately declare any firearms you may have inside your vehicle and your chances of not being cited increase exponentially.
